Nigel Farage hasn't taken it upon himself to apologize on behalf of the entire nation for some perceived injustice though has he.

Correct.

I dare say Farage receives a whole lot more serious threats and abuse in a week than Lily Allen has in her entire life. He's long been considered by many as fair game for far far worse treatment than happened in this case. A taxi driver turned her away - big deal.

Allen's entitled to her opinion but she doesn't speak for me and I'm just as entitled to mine.

Surely the point is that if you start thinking it's acceptable to behave like that to someone with whom you disagree or for comments with which you disagree then it's going to happen in other cases as well.

I think the whole thing is disproportionate to be honest. She said something which I felt was pretty silly but it's of little consequence. She isn't a politician, she doesn't have power and she isn't really that influential. I find the subsequent level of venom directed at her bemusing as a result. People are far too quick to anger.

A better comparison would be if this was acceptable had it happened to Katie Hopkins whose said far more inflammatory things? If a liberal taxi driver had refused her and any children with her service because she describe migrants as cockroaches?

I think it was fine,the taxi driver couldn't compete say by responding on Twitter as he'd have been jumped on by so many lefty luvvies it wouldn't have been funny, so he brought the issue to a level where his will was effective.

I don't agree with the bs 'it's acceptable to behave like that' either, he didn't turn off her life support machine, he declined her custom so actually it cost him money so if you think about it, his convictions had substance which is a damn sight more than the mealy mouthed platitudes coming from the luvvies do.

Btw I've still yet to see Bono-bob's- Allen refugee centre open ,make sure you tell me when it does, perhaps then I'll be less hard on these merchants of bs.

Technically it's something he isn't allowed to do. The TFL licence doesn't allow them to refuse a fare unless the passenger is violent/drunk/disorderly or the passenger is asking them to go beyond a certain distance (i.e out of London). I am not sure if Allen got the licence plate.

What she did in apologising on behalf of the UK was demonstrate her own stupidity but if your gonna go around doing that you have to accept your going to annoy people and make them hostile towards you. Given the glaring abuse of the UK's hospitality shown by the last lot of child refugees we let in and the fact that we have zero obligation to take a single one of them her comments were even more stupid and if i were a driver of a taxi i wouldn't accept her as a fare either.

The driver doesn't have a right to do it. It's part of the TFL conditions of getting a licence. We don't have a right to refuse service in many circumstances either, see the previous thread about the cake shop.
