On another note, I was hoping for Eurotrash 4K not UK Base.

Thanks for posting this.
Whilst these channels are a welcome addition, I fear that this is too little too late. People have been asking for these outstanding movie channels for years and even now the set is incomplete.
The ongoing problems with the TiVo & the cheek to ask for more money for it from November is the last straw for me & many others according to various forums.
I'm now looking at other providers, having been one of their first digital customers.

Dumping the tv is a no brainer, but it's the broadband that's more tricky. As I said on the other thread, I am waiting for the info about new prices, new tivo and broadband speed upgrades (if they happen) before making a decision.
Problem is with bundling, you are pretty much tied into one company or another. All companies make their standalone products outside the bundles too expensive and this prevents customers changing suppliers. Not many people can afford tv from one company, take broadband from another and telephone from somewhere else.

Maybe the discounted Eurosport app suggestion is the way forward for Eurosport which may give up its channel spots eventually and become app-only.
|
Just to be clear and I know some here disagree, but the City don't.... John Malone has more than just a stake, he controls Discovery. They have different kinds of shares in America and he holds a kind that gives him greater voting control than the actual stake he has.
Discovery is his. Eurosport is his. VM is his. Liberty (both of them) are his. QVC is his and perhaps soon he'll add Lionsgate and/or Scripps/AMC to that as well.

.... it does to them. Perhaps they'll make it three price rises next year.
They want money to expand their network, so when they said recently they're investing "their" cash in expanding, where did you think "their" cash was coming from? Us......

Expanding their pockets more like VM are getting as bad as SKY and BT for greediness.

No companies is a charity sadly and no company when it says things are free is free as in reality its sadly put on our bills in the usual stealthy clever way in which these companies totally excel at.

I'm sure I read somewhere that this is actualy the third price increase during this year.
Perhaps they will introduce quarterly price increases next year!

Much as I dislike Sky, they seem to have very good retention deals eg 50% off TV.
I would love to keep the TiVo, but with the best will in the world I can't carry on like this. Watching TV should be a relaxing pleasure, not a frustrating and annoying chore.
As others have said, when people come round they look at you like you're stupid for putting up with it- it's embarrasssing. Even my cleaner has commented!
Does the latest Sky STB (not bothered for Sky Q) have the equivalent of Wishlists and/or Suggestions?
Does anyone know of any other boxes that have these features?

Yes, this does seem to be the case.
Malone is also well known for 'sweating his assets'. He gets richer whilst his customers stare at purple circles & black screens with a totally useless EPG*.
* By this I mean it has updated nearly a week late for some channels- tough luck for those who have already set off for the Bank Holiday. Also, they appear to have made no effort to deal with the poor quality meta data.
I read last night that the quality went down after they changed suppliers, no doubt it was simply because it was cheaper for themselves.
For TiVo to work properly it's essential that it has good quality meta data on the EPG.
I'm surprised that all this hasn't prompted TiVo to take action against VM for bringing their brand into disrepute.

I believe that Whishlists (one of Tivo's essential features in my view) is exclusive to Tivo software.
