Asus RT-AC88U VPN options

Hi

I am interested in the Asus RT-AC88U. I need to it replace a Cisco router that just doesn't have the throughput required for the latest speeds offered by Virgin.

I do have a number of IPSEC VPN tunnels configured on the current Cisco Router. The Asus manual for the RT-AC88U seemed to gloss over the VPN options.

Can anyone tell me if the RT-AC88U supports router to router VPN tunnels and if so what options?

Re: Asus RT-AC88U VPN options

The standard firmware supports PPTP VPN's but if you put the merlin version on (asus with tweaks and new features) then it adds support for OpenVPN. https://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/

I have the RT-AC87U and have OPENVPN running no problem. Very easy to set up.

I'm glad you said that because it was stated earlier that this is only supported by Merlin Firmware.

Cheers

Yes. Just thinking out loud and replying. On reflection I was trying to make the point that OPENVPN works on the stock wrt firmware.
