Apparently, Irish VM customers can only subscribe to BT Sport via Eir Sport.
As Eir Sport is being removed, it is for this reason alone that BT Sport also has to be removed, therefore, I don't think it will have any impact on the operational relationship between BT and VM in the UK.

The three year deal comes up for renegotiation next month (15/8/16).

True I suppose. Great measuring stick for Virgin to see what would happen if they ever dropped BT Sport from the XL package. Just playing Devil's Advocate

Could be, after all the BT Sport in the XL pack deal/strategy was implemented by VM and not LG.

Possibly, but unless it's an experiment by VM as mentioned above by Chad, I doubt it will be removed.
It's Eir Sport that VM Ireland have a problem with, not BT- they are just a casualty.
However, now would be the ideal time for LG to revisit the former VM management strategy regarding BT Sport...

We feel Virgin Media UK and BT resign that deal last summer when BT did launch both BT Sport Europe and BT Showcase - so we feel the BT Sport deal will be up in 2019.
But in Ireland you need to buy Eir Sport to get BT Sport so maybe Eir Sport was asking to much for just 42 games from England as Sky Sports have got the rights to Saturday 3pm kick off games this season - It was with Eir Sport last season.

I think it's inevitable, theone. Most apps providers seem to be offering both Netflix and Amazon. Just Now TV left then as the next big thing for Virgin!!

Access on these devices will be way faster than via the current Tivo.

You are right of course, but you neglect the fact that many, many people are still ignorant of how they can receive these apps, and of course there are also many people who cannot afford to buy additional equipment on top. I still say that Tivos with these apps built in will be hugely popular, provided VM resolve the speed issues.

I don't know, though. If they incorporated the cost in the TiVo charge, that would work as long as a deal could be made with either Netflix or Amazon.
I don't think that would be possible with Now TV for quite a few reasons, including the fact that 'Sky is Sky'!!!

Not likely.
BT Sport wasn't in a general pack like XL.
Eir will probably come crying to VM (IE) for a last minute deal. E22 p/m isn't great for what is on offer and VM are right to pull the plug.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2
Sorry folks, but can we stick to services that may (or not) be coming to this country?
Ireland is a foreign country and what happens over there has no baring on what happens here. In the same way that we don't discuss what services UPC or Ziggo get because they are based in different countries, even though they'll all owned by Liberty. What happens elsewhere does not effect what we get here. Can we just stick to our country, please?
Who knows, the Scots might be leaving us soon too, so this could just be the English Cable Forum in the end...
