And people wonder why there is a desire for independence...... This attitude, regretfully, seems to be prevalent amongst many in England and perhaps it would be better to try to work towards changing this situation rather than perpetuating it!

Regarding oil revenue, a lower price per barrel shared amongst 5 million is a lot more per head than shared amongst 55 million.

Thats the reason for all the IF's. Theres a lots of complications involved BUT england (and wales) have annoyed the leaders of european countrys quite a bit, would that annoyance be enough to overcome spanash resistance.

They could even word it in a way that dosnt give hope to catalan as the suituation could be totally different. This wouldnt be a case of a breakaway state joining the EU, it could infact be worked quite the opposite its a breakaway state (england/wales maby n ireland depending on possiable unifacation) LEAVING europe while the remenants (Scotland) maintain their current position.

for balance im English pro-union and pro europe so i dont want any of these this to happen but anythings a possability now unfortunatly.

The snp have jumped on the referendum as a good excuse for their long-term aim and why not it's not like they are the only one's making good use of the referendum. I think the problem is that sturgeon mistakes remaining in the EU meaning happy to leave the UK and I'm not convinced that's the case and neither fully does she or she'd have gone for it straight away. She will wait for a few polls to roll in saying their is a majority for independence then she will jump regardless of other aspects. Of course the other problem is how much faith do you really want to put into polls given their modern track record .

I would still support a non binding referendum for the rest of the UK if there is another Scottish independence referendum as the issue affects all of the UK and everyone should have a voice.

Makes me laugh with all this racist card thrown about but nobody has mentioned Scotland how many % voted out to leave England. So does that mean sturgeon and the out voters are all Racist as well. None of this was covered on the news was it?

No one here is racist and that's a fact, one user seems to not understand the importance of skin colour to an individual but that's more likely to be an education and lack of understanding other cultures. But not racist.

The racist card really has lost its impact due to none racists being branded racist. But some still feel racisim is away to be heard or express how they feel. If there is a large amount of hate or racism within British community's then we need to work with these community's and understand why they feel racism is the only way they can be heard. We can then put the time and money, resources , education and people to these community's to see positive action.


Shouting LOCK UP THE RACIST is not helping anyone, we need to ask and understand why some people are racist, then offer them the help and understanding they need.

But it makes a mockery of the whole referendum how our country can be held to ransom now by over inflated news reports of Racism and foreigners living in the country that want to play on the Racist card just to keep the country in the EU.

Setting aside all the crap the GOV is causing at the min. but you could use the same card on Scotlanders wanting to VOTE out of England you could use the Racist card their against the English.
