Can the little power surge protection box/wire add to latency/jitter?

Recently I've been getting jitter in online games, where my ping will constantly change/range from 15-35ms, whereas my friend a few miles away on BT Infinitely is locked on 22ms constant.

I wanted to ask, does that extra little box/wire add anything to latency/jitter?

I mean the the one that is added just before the router and normally inserted into the white VM box inside the house?

A new install meant that the VM technician couldn't insert that little black & silver box into the white housing, so he added a cable version instead.

I'm pretty sure it won't really affect anything but just wanted to double check.

On a side note,

I have the SHUB3 - at first the WiFi was amazing on my iPhone 6S Plus, I was getting 180Mbps - but then recently, it's dropped off to 40 max. On the PC hard wired, I still get 209 Mbps though and I've tried a few devices, all 40-ish max?

Thanks 😊

The extra box is an isolator. It breaks the common DC earth connection between you and the street cab. It shouldn't affect your signal levels or latency.

Have you looked to see what other wifi channels are in use? This could be causing your problem.

What do you mean?

It's on AutoChannel?

My phone at work pulls 100Mb no problem but at home has slowed down to 40 😩

Games only ever hardwired.

Wi-Fi to my mobile and tablet only.

So I would hope it wouldn't be adding jitter/latency to the connection then right? 🤔
