Couple guilty of toddler's murder
Quote:
Mother Rachel Fee and her partner Nyomi have been found guilty of murdering Rachel's two-year-old son Liam in Fife.
The couple were convicted of assaulting and killing the young child at his home in Thornton in March 2014. They had blamed another boy for the murder.
They were also convicted of a catalogue of abuse against two other children.
The jury returned a majority verdict after a seven-week trial at the High Court in Livingston. The couple are due to be sentenced on 6 July.

Quote:
The court heard that Nyomi had forced the same boy's fist into Liam's mouth after he died in order to leave DNA traces.
But the jury found Nyomi and Rachel to be jointly responsible for Liam's murder.
In addition, they subjected two other boys to a series of physical and psychological abuse over two years - including forcing one to sleep in a makeshift cage and another to sleep in a room with rats and snakes which they said "ate little boys".
Social services had been alerted to the Fees but had failed to take any action.

There is no sentence which is adequate to properly punish monsters like this.

Absolutely Osem as no sentence is long enough for these evil monsters.

Re: Couple guilty of toddler's murder
Absolutely appalling and no doubt we'll hear the hackneyed phrase "Lessons will be learnt" Except they never seem to be.
I think until some of those who should have been on the ball and spotted this problem are prosecuted for their being complicit nothing will change.

Re: Couple guilty of toddler's murder
We've been treated to almost daily updates on this case in our local news. Absolutely horrible.

Re: Couple guilty of toddler's murder
Just to add to the tragedy, this boy was tortured and murdered in Fife, where Scotland's Named Person Scheme has been piloted. This controversial scheme will appoint a public employee to be responsible for the wellbeing of every child in Scotland. We are told that the children's wellbeing trumps the parents right to bring their kids up without unnecessary state interference. Now, it seems, the scheme doesn't even work.

... and sadly it won't be the first such 'scheme' which didn't work with tragic results. Sometimes I think that rather too much time and energy goes into coming up with new tick box 'schemes' instead of getting the basics right.

Re: Couple guilty of toddler's murder
We need to adopt US type terms and say 100 years no parole.

Re: Couple guilty of toddler's murder
We need whistle blowers to be taken more seriously.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...-fife-36424996
Quote:
Ms Smith, an office administrator, was one of several witnesses who raised concerns about two-year-old Liam before he was murdered.
Speaking to Good Morning Scotland she described how she contacted social services after getting a "gut wrenching" feeling that something was wrong.
She described how she had never seen anything like it before and knew she had to raise her concerns.
Ms Smith explained said: "I had passed them in the street. I noticed he [Liam] was lying flat in the buggy. He had a blanket over his head and the mother told me he wasn't sleeping, he was actually awake.
"At that point that's when alarm bells started ringing. She then went on to state he had autism, again this was something that couldn't be right because I knew the little boy.
"It was then that I got this gut-wrenching feeling and decided to speak to my line manager [at work] and call child protection services."

There is only one women's prison in Scotland, Cornton Vale near Stirling, although it's in the process of being closed and replaced with new facilities. They're bound to end up in the same jail, and given that they are going to get "vulnerable" status they're probably going to end up on the same wing.

Re: Couple guilty of toddler's murder
Mother of two-year-old Liam Fee's killer insists 'My daughter didn't murder the bairn'
Why would you admit that is your daughter even if she believes that her daughter did not kill/murder this poor little boy, her daughter sure as hell witnessed the torture and suffering he endured. I would be keeping my mouth shut and hope and pray that the media never linked myself in any way to such an evil human being.
I was in tears when this story first came out in our local news not only did they kill this boy but they actually tried to frame another child in their care for his murder.
Pure Evil that is what they are, total waste of skin the pair of them.
