No law and order on the roads.

You may have noticed that because there's no police that there's absolute chaos on the roads now.

there's people speeding. cutting people up. driving like a twit. all because they know nobody in their car is going to do anything about it. and the non existant police aren't either.

a high percentage of the cars out there have either no tax, insurance or MOT. in many cases 2 or all of them.

next time you go out. take notice of how bad the roads are getting. it's going to get worse. if somebody hits you. expect them to drive off because they're not legal anyway.

Re: No law and order on the roads.

The sheer amount of cars is the biggest problem. Tax should be doubled for every extra car in a household, some small houses have several cars crammed outside. They've become too cheap, people have become too lazy, and public transport too expensive/poor.

The amount of uninsured/untaxed/unMOT'd cars on the road has dropped in the last ten years due to SORN, electronic databases and most crucially ANPR cameras.

As for driving standards I have to agree with you there. Being on two wheels as well as four means that you are effected more than most and the amount of people trying to occupy the same position on the road as myself all because they simply haven't looked is growing rapidly.

It used to be boy racers but now it's just as likely to be drivers of all ages and gender.

I now have a camera in the car and on my motorcycle helmet and would recommend anyone usingthe road to get the same.

As a new sticker on my car says "Save a biker, open our ******* eyes"

It hasn't. it's got worse. I can guarantee it.
Nearly al the cars I check have at least 1 of the Tax, MOT, Insurance missing.
the police are too busy to be bothering with ANPR.
when the displaying of road tax started, a high percentage of people brought out there cars back onto the road that were not being used due to nosy neighbours and the public.

a lot of people can't afford to be legal. or see it as hundreds if not thousands of pounds can be saved by being "illegal"
what's the worst that can happen?
a cheap fine.
cheaper than hundreds if not thousands.
that's just the way it is. psychologically take the law out of it all. and that's where we are. that's the thinking of society today.

You can buy a car for as little as £50.
too expensive to legalise it so they don't bother. if they get caught the fine's cheaper. and if they take the car. just go and buy another one.

Re: No law and order on the roads.

The removal of physical tax discs has been a massive failure. Much more avoidance and £80 million in revenue lost. http://www.theguardian.com/money/201...-car-tax-discs . Another bright idea from this Govt. Don't think you can blame the police , they have increasingly less resources, blame the organ grinders.
My biggest bug bear is mobile phones. A law that is still ignored and not prosecuted. White van man seems to be particularly exempt.

The way I see it is it's legal vs illegal. and a lot of people today drift to the side of being illegal. they know that there's not a lot that will happen from them saving thousands of pounds. and it's true. not a lot will happen. infact I'm willing to do it myself simply because not a lot will happen.

I don't blame the police. I know that if they've got to be somewhere or whatever then their ANPR will be ignored. that's why there's cars that are still being used and driven on the roads months down the line.

Re: No law and order on the roads.

You can usually spot the type of driver on the road to be wary of:-
1. Anybody wearing a hat. Its either an old codger, or a chavster in a baseball hat (yes, I know I'm wearing a hat, avoid me obviously )
2.smashed up old bangers for obvious reasons.
3.BMW/AUDI drivers. Have to overtake everything on the road, have right of way everywhere and not to indicate Also they have to make up for their small manhood's somehow...

We see round Oxfordshire the DVLA car doing it ANPR checking. Not the police.

Re: No law and order on the roads.

Twice yesterday I was behind cars that turned left only for a car from that side road to pull out and turn right, directly into my path. Both times it was an expensive car with a driver looking like he was half asleep. Reps?

In the past week or so, I've been undertaken by several cars on the hard shoulder of a dual carriageway whilst I was driving at 50 in a 50 zone. I've also been undertaken by cars driving in a left hand bus lane, and they weren't taxis. An old biddy reversed out of a parking slot straight into the path of my car and of another car coming from the opposite direction. And how many times have I been stuck behind cars driving at less than a quarter of the speed limit on clear roads? Too many times!

And how many police cars have I seen? None......

.
Strange.. I've just pulled up the video of one of my rides from last week through Bedford to bletchley park and currently checked 30 vehicles (10 each in Bedford, a421 and Milton Keynes) and not one of them wasn't MOT'd or Taxed and all of them showed on the instance database..

Perhaps it's where you live Gary???
