Re: Virgin Media Homeworks 300Mb
Found another use for this (the upload) I run a Plex server at home, which 12Meg is fine for until the cap comes into play and it starts buffering constantly...

Yes I've been doing the same for a long time from my home PC. It's good for the full 1080P and will just about do 4K too.
This is where it comes into it's own when you go above 12 Let's just hope they don't start to limit it again

Not true. Unless the number of downstream channels are varying all the time.
We saw combinations of 8, 9, 10, 12, 16 downstream channels on the hub 3 trial, depending on the CMTS manufacturer in the area and the number of downstreams allocated to that node.

Interesting, but are you sure about the odd numbers? 10 maybe, I've never seen 10 but it's possible, but I was under the impression that the CMTS's in use are configured for 8, 12 or 16 only. I don't imagine why they'd have 9 at all.

12 is acceptable as long as load isn't too high Ben.

Mud Wizard,
I did reboot the SH3 and I still have 9 downstream channels and they are not varying.
I have 208Mb at the moment but I am hoping to get the 300Mb.
Would I have to see more channels to get the 300Mb???

Re: Virgin Media Homeworks 300Mb
My UBR changed a few months ago and i'm now on 16 downstream's on an ARRIS UBR. Also saw some guys pulling fibre through virgin's manhole cover the other day, So i assume even more capacity upgrades which is nice. All in all though since the UBR upgrade I have never had any peak time slow downs my download is rock solid 317mb all day every day. Touch wood it lasts. Not a massive fan of the SH3 in router mode though the firmware has a fair few issues in my opinion. Currently using the Asus N66U Dark Knight with Merlin firmware it's rock solid.

Re: Virgin Media Homeworks 300Mb
Sod it - you guys have helped me decide to give it a punt. I will call on Monday. I am hoping as I already have the wiring and this house has had 200 before I got here that they will just send me out a SH3.
But we will see.
£57 a month is not bad at all for 300 if it works ok.

Re: Virgin Media Homeworks 300Mb
Called up earlier to get this and the (offshore) agent I was talking to had no idea what I was on about, kept saying 300meg was only available on business packages.
Eventually he put me through to someone English in the loyalty team who again had no idea what homeworks was and I had to direct her to it on the website, after 5 minutes on hold she decided to tell me if they make that change then we'll lose our 6 month introductory discount and will be paying the £57 a month.
Seems a bit stupid they can't add something without removing the discount mind.

Re: Virgin Media Homeworks 300Mb
Seems even more stupid that they roll out a product that customer services does not know about.
