I have tv xl but only a basic hd box no tvo

And 70meg BB

Advice please

I reviewed my package last year (phone talk unlimited, TV xl and 20mb bb at the time IIRC). Because I had an old STB box (Samsung) and was on an out of date tariff I was getting increases much higher than the published percentages and queried this with CS. I got a new Tivo box and by paying my phone rental up front wound up paying less for the same service and 50mb BB.

If your last increase was well about the quoted figures maybe that's the situation you're in.

As regards voice activation - I find myself shouting at the TV quite enough already...

The voice recognition stuff these days is really good for showing it off to your friends, having it not work and then never using it.

I watch programmes, I don't watch channels. Live is overrated. A few minutes (notional) delay won't kill you.

I could I guess, but what would be the point of arranging my schedule to fit with some TV execs idea of when I should watch a programme? Just so they can serve me advertising. That would be going backwards. That model is dying and will be dead in a few years.

Well, except maybe Formula One.

What programmes are on there of interest? I can't think of any, but then it's been years since I looked at a TV guide.

Exactly. I'm often pausing stuff to create my own breaks anyway and come back to it when I'm ready.

absolutely. Adverts do my head in (and I don't watch anything on the BBC apart from Wimbledon) which is why I download all my tv series. The only exception are my 300+ eps of Judge Judy which I have Sky+'d and I can fast forward through the adverts.

Yeah even Wimbledon I watched streaming on my laptop last year. The site has improved a lot.

Not saying you would do it, but it would take some explaining to your significant other if you wanted to watch an adult channel and you screamed that across the room.

Personally, I don't see why people fuss about adverts. I personally don't like them, but I ignore them. Much easier than fast forwarding through them, and, tbh, I have far more important things to worry about than adverts.

I do not mind the adverts to much as I can make a cup of tea or do something quickly while they are on!
