I was fully aware that a price rise is coming in February on top of the regular rises we have endured from Virgin of late. I was going for irony, obviously it sailed past you

What does that mean, in regard to Vevo and price rises?
Price rises happen each year, simple as that.
Vevo has been on many other devices for a long time.
It's no secret that VM are slow adding apps, and given the amount of inexpensive streamer boxes out there, I don't know why people wait for VM to add apps.

Because that would take common sense something vm lack
in seriousness though it was probably just a lot cheaper to have the channels in one app rather than on the EPG itself.

For me cutting the cord was the best thing i did ok i have bt tv still but that is only £8p/m which isn't bad for channels such as fox, discovery, all bt sport, eurosport, mtv etc.
In total if i include netflix, my usa sub, nowtv and my bb and line rental costs i'm paying around £55p/m which is a lot cheaper than a equivalant package from vm or sky, i say equavilant (how ever it's spelt lol) as i'm getting movies live and on demand, tv live and on demand, sport live and on demand.

Yes, it's the standard Vevo app

What's the selection of music like compared to music on Demand?

For TiVo customers it's significantly more artists and videos available than via the previous On Demand service.

Has the VM music on Demand service now closed completely?
|
For TV XL customers with a V box, there is still a inclusive option of music videos using the compatible On Demand system. For any V box on another tier, which previously had a 'pay by track' option, this is no longer available.

Even by VM's standards they've poorly implemented this, it just looks very unprofessional.
The EPG position for the AKA/Clubland/Chilled/Now app is actually titled ClubldAKA and has some weird made up logo using the C from Clubland and AKA next to it, so looks ridiculous.
|
It's actually 'ClublndAKA' which I'd guess is the maximum character limit for a channel name that works across both TiVo and the V boxes. I'd also expect that both the channel name and logo will have been approved by Clubland AKA themselves before it was added.

Press Red on channel 300 and it very slowly loads a menu screen with links to the Vevo app and the AKA, Clubland, Chilled and Now Music streams with an image slideshow on the right which loads in chunks like the days of dial up internet, the streams are hardly on demand content anyway.
|
Channel 300 on a TV XL V box takes you to the available music on demand service which is why I'd expect why it's still called 'Music On Demand'
On TiVo Channel 300 is an entry route to the apps, it's designed to highlight the different music options available, it's not specific to On Demand.

Vevo app is, like most of VM's other apps, so very slow and clunky, you can't even use the letter buttons on your remote to search.
|
The app for Vevo on TiVo is their standard app created by Vevo, and functions in exactly the same way as it does on any other platform. I'm not aware of any Vevo app supporting letter buttons on a remote.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
Thanks for the info.
Have XL TiVo customers now lost access to the old music On Demand service?

Yes, as there is no need to maintain access via any TiVo box.

Initial impressions are that the music selection is different. There's some dance artists that are on MoD but I can't find on Vevo. But then Vevo has some other less mainstream stuff (Christian worship bands, for example) that you'd never find on MoD.

It still works here, but according to the VM Community post, it's now only available to XL customers. Withdrawn for everyone else.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
I used the Vevo app today, it didn't stutter like YouTube often does but in between every video was an advert so I will be sticking with Spotify.
I also used the Clubland app, I was watching Chilled, left the room for a good while, when I returned the app had stopped and was back on the EPG slate, so does it only stream for a certain time?

That's at odds with the update posted on the VM Community forum, which says Tivo users on TV-XL maintain access to both services.
And as I've found with some MoD tracks not being available on Vevo, I fail to see how this is a bad thing.

That's not what the update says.
There are two separate updates, one posted in the TV forum for V box kit and one in the TiVo forum.
It's only the one in the V box forum that mentions the older service for TV XL customers. The TiVo post only mentions Vevo
I've checked with some colleagues and although there is still access to the older service via TiVo in certain places, this access is being removed across all TiVo boxes as part of a staged process.
By the end of the week going to On Demand > Music on TiVo will give you the option for Vevo (and Karaoke).
