Yes, but are the snmp oids defined anywhere, or are they just device specific?

They are standards based, defined in the appropriate RFC's.
Most are not device specific.

Having read the complete Javascript source code many times I think Arris really wanted to obfuscate the code's workings.

Thanks that calculator is very useful, but I suspect they have only implemented the functions they currently need, I couldn't find anything interesting, such as power for each individual upstream or error rates before/after correction.

I think it just shows they use a design tool that spews out the compressed jquery stuff to reduce transfer bytes - just not intended to be human readable.

Ah yes because a few bytes of uncompressed text makes such a huge difference on a gigabit LAN...

Believe me the speed of the local network is not a limiting factor... doesn't help that caching seems to be disabled and the same files are loaded multiple times (as seen by Google Chrome developer tools network analysis)...

That's the idea ; that you don't find anything interesting.

Correctables and uncorrectables are there but accessed via a different stardardised OID.

You may think that there are very limited functions via SNMP from your viewpoint, but modern Arris models now employ public key cryptographic security to encrypt/decrypt most SNMP traffic outside the standard router status stuff. So most not as easy as just walking.

Getting past the authentication system is your first challenge.

No, you're looking at standard minified JQuery libraries, as used by most websites and hosted on the internet. The Arris code isn't minified and is hand-written. I wasn't talking about the standard libraries when I mentioned obfuscation. You haven't got that far yet.

I just want to retract the statement I mentioned earlier about being able to get 200Mbit+ at any time of the day.

Right now this is what I am getting :

Not sure if it's the SH3 or just congestion at this stage, but it's pityful.

I am not that curious, in fact it seems that everything I have looked it is downloaded on first contact with the router, way before any login! As per the SHUB1 the network stats are available without login, instantly if you wait 15-30 seconds for everything to load!

Indeed. Just the basic router status info for downstream, upstream, configuration, network log etc.

Called up Tech Support with the full intention of cancelling. The chap on their 2nd line support was great, told me a bit more about the SH3 trial and issues.

Couldn't see any congestion on the network at all so wasn't sure why the massive drop in speeds.

Suggested I try modem mode, which I did and speeds are back up to normal again. Looks like another bug with the SH3. Modem mode made no difference to the latency though.
