A new TIVO is currently in the works from VM with 2tb storage and 4k, no further info at the moment.

The Horizon box has a very small hard drive, though!

That is very good news, particularly if this one overcomes the speed issues.

I have not picked up any news from LG that they intend to ditch the Tivo boxes used by Virgin Media.

LOL... I'd love to know what TIVO box they are talking about. You could never describe the TIVO boxes we have now as 'seamless'.
Clunky, Yes!
Slow, Yes!
Laborious, Yes
Seamless?....noooooooooooo!!!

It definitely seems to be getting slower, not sure where the next update is due to be coming.

As others have said Virgin will cut their own throats if they continue to keep on increasing prices the way they are doing. Also they seem quite obsessed with broadband speed when the majority of customers just don`t care less.

Apart from the occasional blip it still beats the vast majority of the opposition hands down in my humble unbiased opinion.

Yup, the current gf only gets about 9mb from Sky's BB - BT guarantee at least 31mb. Trying to convince her to change to BT, would be good to get some "free" sport again.

Yes I used to have Sky broadband and had far less trouble with it than I currently do with virgins. I only get 54mb with virgin, supposed to be `up to 150 mb`! I can`t remember what speed I got with Sky broadband but it was far less trouble that I can remember.

That is a physical limitation of the Openreach network in there area , there property is obviously some distance from the exchange with no fibre available. There speeds would be similar if they signed up with BT , Plusnet , Talk Talk etc.

In most places where BT Infinity is available Sky offers its own Sky Fibre service which should deliver the same speeds.

I moved from VM to Sky 6 months ago, I've had absolutely no issues and I'm completely satisfied with their service. I get 38Mbs download, never noticed it dropping. The upload is important to me and I get 7.8Mbs, the best I ever got with VM was 1.75Mb which constantly dropped to 512Kb (I assume throttling) typically I only ever uploaded a build DVD to work.
Years ago VM was the best in many respects, VOD was second to none. It isn't any more, Sky's VOD is really extensive and current. Now VM are putting up prices by 5.5% I think I've made the correct choice in moving to Sky
I'm now paying £20 a month less for a better service.
