200 Meg broadband advice.
Just checked my account online and its invited me to order 200 Meg broadband.
So does it cost more and will i get a new superhub?
I want to order it on self install but is it easy to install and is there a cost to that?

Re: 200 Meg broadband advice.
long story short is that it is a free upgrade so you just need to click to accept and activate. It will tell you if you need a new shub, I have seen some posts where users have been informed that they need a shub2 for 200mbits (if they have got a shub1). If you have got a shub1 and they want to send you a shub2 then let them, if not don't worry, shub1 can handle the wired speed np. The reason why they want to give you a shub2 is because the wireless is far better.
If they want to give you a shub2 you'll have to wait for it to come through the post and hook it. When you turn it on it will download the new config and you'll get 200mbits. If you keep your shub1 it will drop down at some point over a 48 hour period.
Installation requires you to connect the coax to the back, the main adapter and a patch cable(s) to your 3rd party router or device(s).After that (if it is a new shub) you'll have to log into the shub at http://192.168.0.1 and setup your wireless ssid, password etc in addition to any port forwarding rules and options you want to configure.
You don't need to worry, the whole thing is a 5 minute job and is very straight forward to do, if it wasn't, VM wouldn't let you do it.

I've just upgraded to 200mb via LiveChat and ended up with a superhub2AC being sent out.... I'm hoping they'll put the config on my old superhub1 because I've a linksysEA8500 connected and can't be arsed to connect the SH2AC.

No the upgrade will occur at the same time as the hit comes through to the SH2

Re: 200 Meg broadband advice.
they won't, when they send you a new shub they set things up their end so the new config won't come down until you activate the new shub. It is no biggy dude, just wait for the new shub and put it in modem mode.
High five for having a Linksys router

I guess that'll be Tuesday then! (seems abit pointless when it'll be permanently stuck in modemmode but it can't be helped I suppose!)

Re: 200 Meg broadband advice.
When you did live chat to get the upgrade what date was you given in my Virginmedia, as mine says December to February, on asking their trying to charge me £5 per month for the do called free upgrade until it hits my area.
I declined as a new customer can get it now also with a Samsung tablet all the perks of being a new customer, however me being a customer over 15 years gets fobbed off.
I phoned again to the excuse of my cable might need replacing strange that when I'm on 152mbps never had issue with speed.
But then said but if I pay £5 a month can do it now??? Thought my cabling wasn't up to it??? Takes the biscuit

I did the same but for me they reduced my bill by £13 and upgraded me to 200 after I informed them that my next door neighbour could get the 200 as a new customer. I suppose it depends on who you speak too.
Regards
John

Re: 200 Meg broadband advice.
The upgrade is free, the equipment you need for the upgrade is free, but the P&P is on you. If you already had the equipment, it wouldn't be an issue.
