On Demand/Recordings Playback Issues.

I am experiencing some issues when playing back recorded content on both the TIVO box located within the living room and a V+ box located within a bedroom.

The playback is very pixelated and freezes.
The TIVO box also has issues when using BBC IPlayer - same issues as above.

Recently we had a Powered HDU fitted to try and solve the Downstream & Upstream issues with our broadband connection.

It does appear to happen every so often and some days it works fine without any issues.

So i am unsure what might be causing the issue.

Thanks for your time.

Re: On Demand/Recordings Playback Issues.

Thought i would post back!

VM has stated that they have checked both boxes and can see an issue with the downstream power level which may be the root cause of your above problem.

They have requested to get an engineer out to adjust the above.
What would i expect the Engineer todo within the property to adjust the Downstream on both boxes and would he need to do something to the modem within the property aswell.

Current Downstream from Superhub Logs. (Not sure how to check both Settop Boxes.)

Re: On Demand/Recordings Playback Issues.

There was nothing wrong with the downstream power on your Superhub at the time you checked, but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem on the STBs, or that that you don't have an intermittent fault.

I'd expect the tech to check all cabling etc are sound, and measure/adjust the power at the end of each drop cable.

Re: On Demand/Recordings Playback Issues.

You'll find the up and downstream powers etc in the technical stuff pages (2&3) on the TV boxes. ( In setup or settings IIRC)

But you need to be wary that that only shows the current instantaneous values. The OP appears to have an intermittent fault.

Also, the downstream power is unrelated to recordings anyway. It's only a useful guide in that if the downstream power is out of spec, some or all of the TV frequencies may well to be too.

Maybe there's nothing wrong with the recording facility, but the signals are being affected by the downstream power level and it's simply recording the corrupt signals that it's being fed.
