I think that the future of PVR's is limited. With the advent of VOD and cloud based applications; VM may well decide that the current TiVo will be the last.
I'd rather have realistic expectations.

PVRs will be around for a very long time i think they will evolve with time.
Even though i'm a cord cutter i still find myself using my youview to record stuff often.

That's because you never used a *real* Tivo, the old silver box, single 50mhz processor job, button press response was always instant.

To us old timers who used the original silver Tivo, it's ALWAYS been dog-slow.

Re: When are we getting a new 4K Tivo?

Personally I find the current 1TB TIVO box painfully slow , *clunky* , not that user friendly and not a patch on Sky HD box. Ok its got more tuners ... I will give it that , but thats about it.

As for 4K ... some people may not see any difference in resolution compared to 1080P , or even 720P but the UHD Video Pack definitely looks great on my Samsung. 4K Netflix on the otherhand isnt as impressive imho.

Still films etc that are broadcast live and not available on-demand and even on-demand content is not there forever so I can't see PVRs going any day soon.

Exactly mate mostly for me it's Nat geo stuff and Discovery although BT are getting much better at catch up and on demand content the Youview pvr still gets used heavily.
Also useful for cutting out adverts on itv and channel4 as both of their players demand you turn of adblockers.
