Re: The p.c. police strike again.
It's just one idiotic person, not the end of the world - calm down, dear....
(and they are doing it to save money, as dwarf actors are more expensive than child actors).

On the other hand there are strict rules covering child actors..especially about getting an education and for the usual standard 6 week run it could get expensive anyway.
I'm left wondering just how many short people actors there are available at any one time.
I await the outcome with interest ..I suspect it will end up being a storm in a teacup.

Re: The p.c. police strike again.
Why do teacups always get a mention in that idiom and never mugs? Given the vast number of mugs in circulation and the contribution they make to society I think it's about time they were more fairly represented in our language...

Re: The p.c. police strike again.
Strange how the De Montfort Hall website and e-brochure advertises the panto as Snow White, not 'Snow White and her Seven Friends'.
http://www.demontforthall.co.uk/even...27/snow-white/
http://www.demontforthall.co.uk/e-br...e/index.html#1
And here is where the script came from - Stoke in 2012 - and the reasons behind it.

Quote:
Fortunately, it wasn't. If anything, Snow White was even better than last year's offering, Aladdin.
Someone has been watching the purse strings, though, and besides the pared-down cast there was plenty of creativity required when it came to the seven dwarfs.
Deals with Disney don't come cheap and nor does hiring adult dwarf actors.
So the producers steer clear of the apple-cheeked Disneyfied-version of Snow White and substitute Grumpy, Doc and co with members of the junior chorus in costume.
It shouldn't work but, strangely, it does. In fact a special mention should go to the juniors – the younger members of the cast are all local schoolchildren and they are simply superb....
...Penned by CBBC writers Iain Lauchlan and Will Brenton, Snow White stays true to what the Lyceum always does best and that's pantomime in fine British tradition: family-friendly and appealing to kids and adults young and old, humour that remains just the right side of smut and a dame to die for..

You couldn't make it up - but apparently the DM can.....
