Re: 50Mb connection feels laggy (power levels?)
Good point, we'll be on 500mbits in 5 years time and it will need 30mbits up minimum

Meh not really; 500Mb will run fine on 15-20Mb up.
30Mb/s up won't take 5 years; I'd say you'll be seeing 30Mb/s+ upload speeds on VM's network in production to some scale in 12-24 months.

Re: 50Mb connection feels laggy (power levels?)
I don't think. I imagine the next tier is going to be 300/20 and going by the last 3 lots of upgrades it is going to take them a year and half to roll it out and then they are going to be doing even more relief work and what I am assuming is going to be shub3 and 16 channels down and hopefully 8 up. We can put a calendar up now and start taking bets if you want. I am going to go for two and a half years time so my bet is announcement in November 2016 for rollout to start February 2017.

You're going for two and a half years' time and have given dates a year and a half away?

Re: 50Mb connection feels laggy (power levels?)
yup, I am going for a 1.5 year rollout out + .5 year delays + .5 year testing new cpe/capacity upgrades/channel bonding
Arse, I see what you mean. I am going for November 2017 announcement with rollout starting February 2018

Given the current, relatively consistent, ratios on the tiers wouldn't 300/24 be more appropriate?

2 of the 3 tiers run with upstream of 6% of downstream speed though, and until the 120->152Mb upgrade upstream was 10% on the top package?
Unsure where you're getting 8% from, 152/12 is the only time I've seen that ratio on VM products?

I am going to have to start triple checking my posts. I missed "so" off again.

I fail at math.
Remind me what the current tiers are again? 50/3, 100/6, 152/12? Somehow I had 3-6-12 in my head and jumped to 24.

7. Maximum data rate: 30623 / 77215
8. Noise margin: 12.8 / 6.6
9. Line attenuation: 15.2 / 15.8
10. Signal attenuation: 15.1 / 15.8
Evidently, a lot of crosstalk, but just look at that upstream margin! I could be uploading at 30Mbps!

O/T Necro:
Swapped to a Rev 2 HH5 and also disconnected long-ass extension wiring my flatmate left connected, maximum data rate has gone up to 92/33

120Mbit download I am not bothered about, but that upload is sweet.

No plans for vectoring beyond an extremely 'tactical' deployment to increase coverage of 'superfast' speeds to achieve regional targets.
No plans for a new speed tier.
