Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)
Well first of all they are holding a press conference next week to announce pricing details but whether it remains on the XL package will be Virgins decision in the end.
Don't get your hopes up too high on BT's statement that some of their CL's will be FTA as it will only be a handful of matches at the very most from what l understand.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)
If BT don't allow the CL to be included in XL how many viewers will they lose , I'd imagine there is a pretty high amount of BT Sport subs who won't pay the additional fiver.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)
could vm do another shocker and get bt sport europe in xl and reup their contract with bt for another 3 years? it would be a miracle if they do. But if they dont then what can vm offer to make xl still worthwhile? i dont think hd channels cover it for myself

I can imagine what will happen is the Champions League will be extra. I can see the regular channels staying in XL with an extra fiver a month for champions league. Virgin cant afford to let BT leave xl its a huge selling point for some

Possible but I wouldn't at all be shocked to see VM get anther deal with CL included , let's be honest I'm pretty sure a high percentage of BT Sports viewers come from VM with it being included in XL.
If every platform has to pay the £5 charge I think they'll struggle with viewing figures for the games not available FTA.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)
I would expect to be the same coverage as last season with ITV/Sky.
So BT will have all 16 games each week - of which one will be on the FTA channel. May be luch and get two free games.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)
If Virgin have any business sense they will do their upmost to get the champions league/Europa league channel included in the xl package because it`s a massive selling point in their `war` with sky. People want to watch Champions league games there`s no doubt about it,they(we) just don`t want to pay extra for them.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)
You know what, I think Virgin deserve the benefit of the doubt. When Setanta folded it didn't look likely they where going to get ESPN in the XL package, but after a couple of months of speculation they managed to do a deal. Then when BT Sports launched it really didn't look like a deal would be done, but about a week after BT Sports officially launched Virgin did the business yet again and got it in the XL package. Setanta, ESPN and BT Sports all in the XL package over the past 8 years.
Based on previous performance, you'd have to think that Virgin will get a deal done to cover European coverage in the XL package. IF anything, there's nothing to suggest they won't.

Spot on, too many people hit the panic button and start with the "i'm not paying " nonsence, vm have a good history of getting sports into the xl pack.
I do however feel they may not be succesful with champions league coverage as reports are suggesting even bts own customers will have to pay, but never say never.
