Wireless Speeds?
Hi Everyone,
Just upgraded my Virgin Media broadband service to 152Mb from 50Mb, After doing a speed test my computer connected straight into the super Hub 2 reaches 152Mb download and 12Mb upload great, but the wireless speeds on my mobile attached devices are at a fraction of that speed at 25-35Mb download
I have an iPad 3 and a Samsung Galaxy mini 3 mobile both with a WiFi spec of Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n) I have tried both device in 2.4 and 5Ghz band mode with them next to the super hub and cannot get above these figures, so the question is what download speeds would you expect from 2.4 or 5Ghz bands from the super hub if you were on 152Mb service?
Thank you for your help in advance and please be gentle with me

Re: Wireless Speeds?
I wouldn't expect particularly great speeds from mobile devices.

Re: Wireless Speeds?
There are so many variables attatched to wireless devices that no speed is guaranteed.
A good place to start though is by making sure they have the latest drivers.

Re: Wireless Speeds?
I get 115 on my 1+1 Android phone, and 42 on my iPad (on SH2AC n).
Speeds vary by device.

Re: Wireless Speeds?
I think I might just need to give up testing my mobile devices for Wifi speeds, latest test on 5Ghz band 43Mb on my iPad and 56Mb on my phone using the same speedtest.net app
The most important thing is that on my fixed ethernet connection I am getting 152Mb and will i ever need over 43mb on my iPad for any task I think most probably not!
Thanks for all your replies guys!

I would expect speeds up to what your client device is capable of, which in this case is around 40-50Mbps maximum.

Re: Wireless Speeds?
It depends what the WiFi in your phone is limited to - I got 107mb/s on my Xperia Z3 (paying for 100mb/s, so happy with that!) but my PC was only getting 35-37mb/s - turns out this was becuase the wireless adapter was only capable of supporting upto 300mbps - I bought a new 1200mbps 802.11ac adapter, and now I'm getting speeds of 104-107mb/s.
Obviously you can't change this on your phone like I could with the PC but if your phone supports the router's 5GHz network try connecting to that - I seem to get faster speeds over that.

Yes both my devices are capable of scanning the 5Gb band and are connected with the speedtest taken from the same room as the router! Also both devices software is up to date!

Re: Wireless Speeds?
I forgot to say that I used the Speedtest website for the laptop and the Speedtest app for the samsung Note's.
