Netflix hope add to 4k this year with HDR and atmos won't exactly require 250mbps but 30 meg wont cut it at peak times.

Agreed however I was thinking on VM , 152mb is more than adequate for that , with the addition of vectoring on Openreach more and more will be able to handle that my connection already will easily.

That was true when VM were the only gig in town with fibre, but that is no longer the case.

True, faster BB is useful for families, but most providers of fibre offer those speeds. Above, is useful for some, but for the majority, very fast speeds are only of use to them for bragging rights.

For me Tivo is a massive plus point, but I do wonder how many people care about extra functionality, as long as they have some kind of PVR?

The many years of fault free and excellent service keeps me with cable, but that is of no significance to new customers.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)

There was talk of a Sony PS4 partnership with Virgin Broadband, does anyone know what became of if?

The use of Netflix over PS4/PS3 is quicker than with Tivo.

As usual we see some smoke signals for a while then suddenly they disappear for a eternity.

I thought they announced it because the partnership was in place. Seems unusual for VM to announce something without finalising the so-called partnership.

Never mind lol

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)

I asked a while ago on the Sony partnership and it was just for the ps4 launch and that's it, I challenged them on the articles that I read one which states benefits for customers.

Virgin's not giving out any details as to what being an official "ISP partner" of a video games machines actually means for us lot, though, simply saying:

"What does that mean exactly? Well, there’s going to be loads of exciting benefits for our customers but we have to keep the details under wraps for the time being. Watch this space for more details."

False promises, as when questioned on it again the only partnership was the expo that's it nothing more.

If Virgin Media did keep the idea of ntl (Going after channels right away) I count 50+ more channels would be broadcasting on Virgin Media right now.

But the bosses want for Telewest idea of working (Going after channels when broadcasts deal for up).

We are secondary to BT even now and will soon lose our killer attraction to virgin media (free bt sports)
Maybe Virgin will reuse the money save if BT Sports goes "add on channel" to go after more channels from Universal, Sky, Viacom and Sony or give us Premier Sports on XL.

When Digital TV Started on Telewest in my area only 75 channels was broadcasting.

-Only local Radio Channels from launch (UK Wide Radio launch later on).
-Back then you pick your own channel numbers.
-Some channel called "Travel Deal" from Travel Channel was last on list.
