Does the Samsung TiVo have a fourth tuner?
Does the Samsung TiVo have a fourth tuner that is not yet activated?
It has been noted that after a reboot, four red recording lights illuminate after a restart and that even the most basic Roamio has four tuners.
It is believed that the Samsung runs tweaked Premiere software that the Cisco TiVo uses.
Does anybody know the answer to this question that i'm asking on behalf of another?
Thanks.

The fourth light is the download light. Only three tuners.

Both Samsung and Cisco have four tuners - three TV ones and one for the cable modem.

Personally three tuners are never enough sometimes but thankfully those much maligned +1 channels come to the rescue quite a bit.

I'd struggle to find that much to record if im honest , most shows are repeated across multiple channels (BBC being the exception).

Coming from a V+, I've found the 3 tuners are sufficient 90% of the time. For the remaining 10.. as you say, the +1 and 30-day iPlayer get used!

Well with three of us all with different interests there are plenty of different series and programmes to record and half of them always seem to clash at the same time.

I had the same problem a few times myself sometimes there would be something like 6 progammes on you want to watch or record at the same time. As you say the +1 channels came to the rescue luckily lol.

Re: Does the Samsung TiVo have a fourth tuner?
It also comes in handy sometimes when the TiVo will support back-to-back recordings on the same tuner. With V+ you had to treat back-to-back programs on the same channel as 2 separate progs.. TiVo will use the same tuner which has saved the day on occasions too!

Is it possible to somehow use the TiVo cable modem tuner or the third V+ tuner that it uses for delay TV to record programming in the same way as the other tuners to resolve a programme clash situation?
I think that the Sky+ can do this, but obviously you lose the delay TV function.
Thanks for the replies everybody.

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be technically possible. But it won't happen. The TiVo cable modem is far too valuable, and V+ is no longer in development.

Sky+ only has two tuners, but can record on both.

I assume that access to Delay TV is lost if they are recording two programmes at once?
Never had Sky+ and wondered what would happen in this scenario.
