Superhub : Can I allocate different speeds to devices on supehub2?

I've got the superhub2 and with netflix on 3 tvs, internet downloading on two computers, mobile and computer internet surfing, my various devices are all fighting for bandwidth.

I tend to find that if someone is downloading on the main computer, that will get ALL the bandwidth with everyone else struggling on the wireless connection.

Is there a way to allocate bandwidth so that each device gets a minimum amount of speed each?

I look forward in the evenings to checking what's on netflix only to find whatever I'm watching keeps restarting.

I doubt the SH2 is going to do what you want - for this would need to put it into modem mode and feed a managed switch that allowed you to manage the individual devices.
(I want to do this also, finding a managed switch that's not expensive is a tad harder.)

BTW - are you talking about netflix on the TIVO or your PC?
The way I understand it - the TIVO has it's own BB connection via the TV coax so does not affect your router.

I'll have to look up what a managed switch is, but thanks for highlighting that.

The tivo is an app on a Samsung blu ray drive in one room and an app on a Samsung smart tv in another room. I have tivo in another room, but the apps are far too slow on it to be useable.

you don't need a managed switch at all, it is far too complicated for you to use. All you need is a decent router. The reason why the shub can't do it is only because VM like to keep things as basic as possible and didn't want to add it as a feature.

As an fyi this is an absolutely superb router for many reasons and will do the trick for you. You might not like the price tag but it is the difference between having a proper router and cheap isp supplied naff.

Tell people to stop downloading dodgy stuff by the bucket load on the main computer, then contention overall will be an extremely rare occurrence

Sounds like you need a router with strong QoS. How are the downloads on the main computer being done, IE what's being used to do them? Could potentially filter by protocol.

Or if it's just one machine being the problem, set a speed limiter, QoS, or shaper on the machine itself, e.g. cfossspeed

I prefer to run with social engineering. Threats of extreme violence if hogging bandwidth.

Not into violence, so I'll go down the using another router err route.

Would the router suggested by the general tell me what speeds each device is using?

I don't want to be a fascist, but... I do want to have idea of what's being done on each device, especially if upload bandwidth is being used which is so limited on VM.

Won't work if main PC is wired though as the OP suggests.

MAC filtering has the same effect.
