To be fair to VM they have to balance the costs don't forget not everyone likes sport , the XL pack has to remain priced competively and have a broad appeal.

The XL Pack on its own is around £38 a month? That's not too bad, its when you start adding extras...Sky Sports, Sky Movies then costs then spiral upwards.

Then add a phone package and/or broadband package and you end up paying a whole lot more...GULP lol

Basically they called your bluff mate if they go 2"We're faster" say to them "yeah but <sky etc> have faster uploads" then go ahead with the cancellation, guaranteed they will either make you a good offer there and then or phone you before your 30 days notice is up with a offer.
Sky, vm etc have got wise to people bluffing, when i left vm they phoned me with all kinds of offers including free broadband at one time, i declined due to my issues with vm.

Instead of a 12/18 month contract, we should be allowed to sign one for a longer period of time, but also receive a bigger loyalty discount.

I'd rather stay with VM and be a loyal customer rather than having to chop and change every other year just to get the best deals. It would also mean VM would be guaranteed to get my money.

Ben, what are your thoughts on this? Be interesting to hear from a VM perspective.

Here's a question for everyone, but maybe theone2k10 will be able to respond more accurately. It's £33 a month for TV XL standalone with TiVo, now that obviously gives you a lot of channels, most of which imo are a load of total tosh, and I only watch a handful of what's on offer, anyway back to the question.
Does anyone think it would be more beneficial to drop the Virgin TV package and take on more streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime etc? It does seem to me that in doing so it would be quite a bit cheaper than the £33 for the XL package, iirc Netflix is approx £6 per month and I'm not so sure about Amazon Prime but I wouldn't think it would be that much more than Netflix.
So if you had both of these services at the same time, I'm thinking that it would more than keep you satisfied with the channels that they offer at a fraction of the cost.
Thoughts?

For me personally it was a lot cheaper with Netflix and wwe network and mycsmart DNS my TV costs are £17.99 a month if I add on my broadband and phone line costs it is £54.98 a month in total.
