Universal may launch a movie channel exclusively on vm no further information yet and this is still at rumour stage. My belief is with picturebox being dropped we may see that go to a linar channel.
Subscription channel then? Interesting. Cheers for info pal

I wonder what will happen then we lose bt sport in a years time (which so will happen surely) spare money left over. Bill reduction or some sort of premium channel for free?

Obviously won't be a bill drop but surely must be something to replace it. If they just announce bt sport is moving to subscription and don't acknowledge that they're saving money and just send a "we have all the sports yay call us it's 30 notes for sky sports and 15 for bt sports- we got you covered!" Then I'll cancel out of anger. I'll then a month later regret it and subscribe again but the refusal to admit they'd be saving money would legitimately anger me

If the universal movie channel launches i think it will be part of XL as vm need to do something to make XL worth while as at the moment the XL tv pack is becoming the equivelent to Skys hd pack but with bt sports for now.

It seems (to me) the XL pack is acting a sly HD Charge at the moment. Most of the channels in the XL pack are just the HD variants, with a few other decent channels and BT Sport chucked in for good measure.

They do need to do something to beef it up.....just what they need to do, is the question :-)

Remember BT Sport on Sky is £15 extra UC so to have it in the XL pack saves customers a fair amount of money each month as it stands.

I agree, but not all of VM's customers want to watch BT Sport, but...To be fair to VM, the increase from TV L to TV XL without phone and broadband is only £4.50 a month.

The inclusion of BT Sport is amazing and maybe this is their WOW FACTOR which brings the XL pack to life?? I dunno...for me yes as a football and sports fan...but those that aren't..maybe it isnt..It is tough I give you that.

This baffles me as plusnet customers can get bt sport on the sky platform for £5.99p/m or £7.49p/m in hd.
Then again that could be because bt own plusnet lol.

Exactly. People who are kind enough to give us the heads up sometimes need to protect themselves and don't expect to be criticised for it.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015) Vol. 1

I'm seeing reports of HBO's new streaming service "HBO Now" is go to live next month in time for the new Game of Thrones premier.

The cost is reporting to be around $15 a month, but I can't see whether this will be available to those outside of the US.

Would VM consider an App for this on TiVo, or does Sky's agreement with HBO, limit the new content available to the UK to those without a Sky subcription? I'm not sure.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015) Vol. 1

Apparently Apple and HBO are close to agreeing a streaming partnership.

I'm sure that VM would consider this, but given Sky's exclusivity deal, we would only be able to access content via PPV at present. It may be that HBO Go won't launch over here until 2020.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015) Vol. 1

If the content is coming directly from HBO, which is what is being suggested, is this a way around Sky's exclusivity deal?

So anyone could pay the monthly fee a la Netflix, its just getting the App away from the laptop and onto the TV. There was a suggestion the App could be available via PS4/Xbox One which would also be good.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015) Vol. 1

I guess people will take the available steps to obtain a workaround to access the HBO content from the UK if they are prevented from legitimately doing so.

But don't forget this part:

Quote:
Alongside Apple, HBO is said to be looking to launch on Amazon, Roku, Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation.
All of which is currently irrelevant to the UK, unless, Sky and HBO can work out some kind of deal to bring a full blown HBO Now service to the UK. If that happens, we wouldn't have to wait until after 2020.
