Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015) Vol. 1
NHL Gamecenter live has been available to UK subscribers for ages its available on Roku , PlayStation , Apple TV , Xbox and other devices.
I believe some games are blacked out (those being shown on Premier Sports) although have to admit I'm not 100% sure on this bit.
I can't see it coming to VM TIVO anytime soon , I'm pretty sure its not available on the US TIVO.

Would be very interesting.
Then they can start bidding for Premier League and other top football competition rights to show it on their new Premier Sports Channel

...and besides, Malone controls Discovery and Discovery now owns the majority shareholding of Eurosport giving Malone control of that too, although I suppose Premier could be merged with Eurosport to make it stronger.

Maybe we will see the missing Viacom channels from the MTV suite coming to VM as Viacom seek to negate declining audiences for their channels?
Which are we missing?
|
We'd get the missing channels today if VM paid for them. With Viacom now owning Channel 5 we have to wait and see what reorganisation, if any, that Viacom do to their large bouquet of UK owned channels.
And talking of reorganisations, the media were saying last week that Viacom and CBS are to be merged back together again. I don't see how this will affect anything as they have the same owner, Sumner Redstone, in any case.

Where to start? Well firstly, Redstone doesn't own CBS and Viacom. They're listed on the stock market. But National Amusements, his company, does have key voting stakes in them. But Redstone is 91 so won't be pulling the strings forever. What happens next? http://www.cnbc.com/id/102400366#.

Well TV Times (This weeks and next weeks book) says 5* +1 is broadcasting on Virgin Channel 152 right now. But Channel 5 +24 is broadcasting on Virgin Channel 152.

How about the fact that Sumner Redstone holds the largest voting shares in CBS and Viacom which gives him de facto control of the companies. And despite the article you linked to, once he's gone, his daughter will own the largest bloc of shares giving her control.

I think we may see a change when Spike launches. Either, as will be on Freeview, it will replace Viva on cable, or not and we'll get an additional channel.
I'm interested to see whether Viacom keeps the Channel 5 offshoot channels or launch more of their own branded channels such as Spike and TV Land.

Base on confirmed information VIVA will close on Freeview but will still be broadcasting on Cable and Astra UK. With some VIVA shows moving to 5*.

What I was getting at was that the music channels have suffered a massive loss in viewers. In order to negate this, Viacom may offer the channels to VM for virtually nothing.

I feel years from now the following may happen.
-5* will become Land TV.
-5USA and Spike will become one.
-5USA slot will be use for 5Movies or Paramount Movies.
-VIVA and Land TV will become one.
-VIVA slot on Cable and Sky will be use for Spike +1 or Spike HD.
-Spike will move to 5* slot on Freeview and Viacom will sell off VIVA slot on Freeview.
-Channel 5 will stay as now to keep it channels numbers.

Max, remember its not just us few on Cable Forum that are the VM customers, they have millions of customers who probably watch the "rubbish channels". These other customers may think the channels you watch are garbage
I don't mind having lots of channels as VM need to cater for as many people as possible. I'm just an advocator of channels being in HD whethers its BBC1, Sky Living or Pick lol..(as long as the channel has a HD broadcast, I think VM should try to secure it on our platform)
If VM can tempt more customers, the more money they can make and hopefully increase their content, the delivery of content and overall service.
