A police force has apologised for collecting the details of subscribers to the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in the wake of the Paris massacre.
Wiltshire Police confirmed one of its officers visited a newsagent after the Paris attacks, requesting names of the four people who bought the magazine.
In a statement, the force claimed the officer's motivation had been "purely around enhancing public safety".

On Page 29 you have this:

Muslims around the world strongly reject violence in the name of Islam. Asked specifically about suicide bombing, clear majorities in most countries say such acts are rarely or never justified as a means of defending Islam from its enemies.

then on page 32:

Most Muslims around the world express support for democracy, and most say it is a good thing when others are very free to practice their religion. At the same time, many Muslims want religious leaders to have at least some influence in political matters.

The poll results are pretty positive accompanying that as well. When asked if Religious freedom the median percentage of Muslims answered that it was either to 85% at the lowest to 97% at it's highest.

Even the women's right to get a divorce only drops below 50% in Africa. In Europe it's in the 80% range.

Probably the most concerning is the amount of people in South Asia who support executing those who leave Islam. However that number drops considerably when you enter Western culture. There are Christians in Africa who support execution for homosexuals so I would suggest that you need to factor in general culture rather than just religion.

Yes but that is one finding in a report that is primarily showing that Muslims reject violence. Even that number drops quickly in Western nations. I agree it's a pretty bad finding but I don't think that report dismisses the idea Islam isn't a peaceful religion. If anything the numbers suggest a large amount of Muslims reject violence.

Other headlines.

1. Over three quarters of respondents in the Middle East and North Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia want legal issues to be resolved in Sharia courts. Muslims are split evenly over the extreme stuff associated with Sharia (cutting off hands, death to the apostate), which gets its biggest support in South Asia.

2. Suicide bombing is mostly rejected – it remains popular among sizable minorities in Palestine (40 per cent), Afghanistan (39 per cent), Egypt (29 per cent) and Bangladesh (26 per cent).

3. Muslims do not think other people should be compelled to follow Islam. The lowest level of support for religious freedom was found in Egypt (77 per cent) and the highest in Bangladesh (97 per cent).

4. Sexual attitudes remain very conservative – . Majorities in every country said that wives should obey their husbands.

5. Support for democracy is high in South Asia but low in the Middle East and lowest in Pakistan

The report came out over 18months ago, there loads of analysis on it. Just google it and there's graphs and comments a plenty.

A police force was forced to apologise today after one of its officers told a newsagent to hand over the names of four people in the name of community cohesion, after they bought a commemorative edition of the Charlie Hebdo magazine.

Wiltshire police confirmed that it had deleted the names of the buyers from its system, which were collected after officers toured shops warning newsagents to be vigilant during an “assessment of community tensions” in the sleepy market town following the attacks in the French capital in January.
