Muslim protesters picket Downing Street to protest at Charlie Hebdo cartoons
Quote:

The protest was organised by the Muslim Action Forum, which said that the Charlie Hebdo cartoons had helped “sow the seeds of hatred”

I'd say that flying planes into the World Trade Center, the Bali bombings, Madrid, 7/7 etc....helped "sow the seeds of hatred"
But if you are that far up your own a*se then I suppose you would think that it was some cartoons that are the problem

Re: Muslim protesters picket Downing Street to protest at Charlie Hebdo cartoons
As I said in the other thread I find it quite concerning that the reason they have chosen to march isn't because those people were murdered but because the cartoons were published, just saying they condemn the murders isn't enough and shows they have their priorities all wrong imo

No, didn't you know, it was crusades. We're still atoning for that apparently.

I thought the segregation of the genders at the protest was a nice touch.

Re: Muslim protesters picket Downing Street to protest at Charlie Hebdo cartoons
These... people would get a lot more credibility if they protested in such numbers and so passionately against things like... burning alive of pilots, beheadings, tossing people off tall buildings, stonings, crucifixions etc by their own kind. Yet here they, all nicely segregated, bitching about a freaking cartoon...

Re: Muslim protesters picket Downing Street to protest at Charlie Hebdo cartoons
From a cynical point of view they're only protesting against this and not many other things they could be protesting about.
because they want to keep the right not to be criticised.
and the right to be offended for silly little things.
for now and the future for when they rule the world.
they want to take away the obstruction.

Re: Muslim protesters picket Downing Street to protest at Charlie Hebdo cartoons
Maybe I'm missing the point here - other than the fact people are (rightly) saying the protesters seem to be more interested in speaking out against being offended rather than the pain and death caused by their brethren, what's the problem?
Muslims don't like their prophet being mocked - ok they ought to grow thicker skin but instead of bombing and shooting people, this lot organised an apparently peaceful demonstration. Isn't that all we ask of anyone who wants to protest against something? Yes there are a thousand more important things in the world they could be moaning about but they're not breaking any laws, they're not burning poppies etc, they're just sticking to UK law and following democracy.

A lot of people protest for all sorts of reasons, Russ.
as long as they're not bombing and shooting people. then we don't criticise them either.

Re: Muslim protesters picket Downing Street to protest at Charlie Hebdo cartoons
Their implication is that, "do as we say or you'll be next". If it wasn't why don't publications print things that Muslims don't like(although that covers an awful lot). The media have no problem producing things about other religions.

Re: Muslim protesters picket Downing Street to protest at Charlie Hebdo cartoons
Why did they not go to France and protest as it is a French matter and is nothing to do with the British. (Fear I suppose or chicken)....
Keep off or monuments you disrespectful SOBs as it was not for our great grandfathers, grandfathers and fathers that fought so that you could have your freedom to come here to live.

Some facts.
"Two former heads of the Army have called for greater recognition of the first Muslim soldier to be awarded the Victoria Cross, in a move intended as a “riposte” to the “sickening extremism” of Isil militants
General Lord Dannatt and General Lord Richards lead a group of peers, MPs, historians and religious leaders who say children should be told about the role played by Muslim troops in the First World War.
In a letter to The Telegraph they say that the actions of Sepoy Khudadad Khan in a battle at Ypres 100 years ago on Friday “exemplified the courage” of many who served in the war.
The knowledge of his role, together with that of the other 400,000 Muslims who fought alongside British troops, is vital to “fully understand the multi-ethnic Britain that we are today”, they add."

Last year on Radio 4 they spoke to a Muslim, he said that a true Muslim doesn't like any prophet being mock, he also mentioned Jesus Crist shouldn't be mocked.
