1,000 patients a month are dying needlessly

around 12,000 deaths a year in NHS hospitals are being caused by medical errors and failures to monitor patients properly.

....and before anyone starts trundling out the same old excuses, It's nothing to do with cuts and funding (imo) as this kind of thing has been going on for the last few decades and the figures are roughly the same for the USA.

He threw the same soundbite out about ending the "cover up culture" in 2013. Perhaps his performance needs looked at also.

Jeremy Hunt is awesome in that his name is nice, explanatory rhyming slang.

That's pretty much all positive that can be said.

Re: 1,000 patients a month are dying needlessly

I work for the NHS as a healthcare and while all wards are different staff at all levels are often looked upon like crap from the general public. while some staff shouldn't work in this kind of job most do the best they can....we do loads of training every year and all staff have to go through general training and training related to the ward they work on as an example of what I do..

Information Governance
Annual Appraisal
Resuscitation Level 1 in Hospital CPR
Infection Prevention & Control Specialist Clinical Details
Fire Safety -
Safeguarding Children Level 1
Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults - Level 1
Mental Capacity Act Level 1
Venous Thromboembolism
Safer Blood Transfusion
Local Induction
Corporate Induction
Risk & Safety Matters
Equality & Diversity
Dignity at Work
Infection Control - Asepsis Competency
Personal Safety - Lower Risk
Moving & Handling Higher Risk
Pressure Ulcer Prevention Assessment
Pressure Ulcer Prevention Theory
Pressure Ulcer Prevention Equipment
Infection Control - Viral Gastroe
Nutrition Level 1 General Awareness Adults and Children

Infection Control - MRSA
Clinical Health Skills

---------- Post added at 20:32 ---------- Previous post was at 20:30 ----------

90% of this training has to be done every year

Backside covering by management increasing costs to the health service with little measurable benefit to patients.

Probably unavoidable in today's litigious society, but how much actually benefits patients or directly improves the service you provide to patients?

So of the 90% of the training each year, how much could be reduced to save the NHS money which in turn would benefit patients and prevent the needless deaths if it was better directed?
