What you on about? All I did was ask a perfectly reasonable question to what the other poster had written, to say that he/she gave up after the first episode, was, imo a bit silly, as no show was mentioned on which he/she gave up on!

Indeed it is. In England we get BBC2 England on 864 (same as 102), this is presumably there for those who get a national variant on 102.
Wouldn't it be fair to offer the BBC2 variants to the whole of the UK? I wanted to use BBC2 Scotland last night

They didn't even drop the game on the Red Button. I had to switch to my FreeSat connection to watch the game.
FreeSat has all BBC2 variants (Wales/Eng/Scot/NI) plus all the BBC1 local regions too. Comes in useful every now and then.

Well, my hope was that Sky Atlantic, if it was coming, would be one of the remaining Sky channels we would get by this spring at the latest as the result of the 2013 talks.
The fact that we now have Sky Sports News HD and Sky News HD has got me wondering if that is all we are getting out of the deal resulting from those talks.
So really, I think those talks have not progressed in the way I expected, and we are going to have to wait longer for this channel, although I do think it will come eventually.
I've now had given to me box sets of Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones, and I bought the last series of Mad Men so the main programmes I was annoyed at missing I now have in my possession.
However, I hope that VM negotiates something with Sky soon because there is now talk of them hooking up with HBO to make some more good dramas. It would be a shame to miss out on this joint venture. I wonder if Sky are prepared to put in additional investment without making better efforts on getting a decent return for this?

Aye i agree with all this old boy. I had hoped the reason for sky sports news hd and sky news hd being held back so long was due to SA coming along with them in 2015. Ah well never mind.
As for the investment from VM i sadly doubt it. At the moment VM are cutting long term deals for channels, not overly spending for new channels (or not spending at all), increasing prices and not spending a lot on anything else. Which suggests to me theyre trying to push the profits up asap possibly in order to sell by making it look more attractive? Little spending, constant pay increases would all suggest this.

Absolutely. Now that VM have extra capacity, I really don't know why these variations aren't available. They are available to VM at no charge by the BBC.
Having them would have resolved a recording clash the other day for me.

Erm, I thought they were investing quite heavily (about a billion a year in the UK) in their networks?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015) Vol. 1
Great that Sky news and Sky sports news hd have finally launched on virgin. All we want now is Universal hd and Sky Atlantic (hd or sd). Personally I think Sky and Virgin will do a deal sometime this year. No reason for my belief in this other than maybe Sky realising Atlantic no longer(if ever)attracts customers away from virgin.
