New Sky Fibre product

It's called Sky Fibre - note the Not Unlimited!

It has a 25Gb usage cap and is £10 per month, 18 month contract and £50 setup although setup is reduced to £30 at launch.

Speed is up to 40 Mbit with up to 9.5 Mbit upload.

Unlike BT, but in common will all previous Sky broadband products, your on-demand usage will count towards this cap.

There'll be press release along in a bit (later today).

Well, I guess it's an option for some, but doesn't make sense to me.

If you want "Super Fast" broadband like FTTC or VM Cable, surely that means you're going to use it. I know I'm an exception, but I downloaded 40GB last weekend downloading 7 games from a pack of games my other half bought on Steam.

Especially if On Demand counts towards the cap, that wont last long.

Totally agree , I guess it must have a target audience though as BT seem to advertise it a lot.

Bit of a strange cap, when the average uk usage is 58GB per month?

However, there must be a market for it as Sky generally tend to be in touch with what's important to consumers

You can use it, without needing to use large amounts of it. BT had two different capped (40GB IIRC) fibre products at launch.

A lot of people, possibly even the majority, still use less than 40GB. The mean average is skewed by a small proportion of very heavy users.
