Probably not, it's a network issue not a software issue.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3
For the sake of a balance of views, I am reading many posts berating the latest TiVo update. I have to say that I have not seen any issues in general. Can't comment on Netflix 'lag' as I do not subscribe

The main improvement is that the code has been re-written, and that will allow better integration of future apps. Therefore, the benefit of the update may not be immediately obvious.
As the previous two posters, I have absolutely no problem with the update.

Without having effected any 'testing', it's impossible to say. I am Test Analyst by profession, and I know with over 20 years experience, there is a lot of psychology going on where it comes to updates. Being aware of an update(s), folk tend to see what they perceive to be 'new' issues and blame the upgrade, but in reality they are actually seeing an outstanding issue, that has only become apparent because you are looking for one. And consequently, If you don't see an 'improvement', there 'must' be an issue with the update.
Note: I am NOT saying there are not issues with this update and posters are not genuine with their observations.

I think people are aware that the issues they're seeing were present prior to the update. I think they're surprised that they're still present. I'd argue, as I'm sure would many, that means that there is an issue with the update - namely that it hasn't resolved the outstanding issues.

The main problem with the TIVO is the BBC i-Player. The sooner this is fixed, the better.

But playing Devil's Advocate, did Virgin actually say the update was to fix 'those issues'. Not every update is necessarily to fix EVERY issue, if any. There are 3 main types of updates. Bug Fixes, Enhancements, or plain Cosmetic.

No they didn't. Nor have I said or suggested otherwise.

Neither do I, especially. But it was much trumpeted by Virgin, yet I can discern no real difference to my experience as a user, whilst some quite serious, and well reported, issues still remain. I don't think you can add "balance" (which is what trevpb said he was attempting to do - it's actually me who's playing devil's advocate ) to the fact that those issues exist simply by saying you haven't experienced any. I think you'd need to demonstrate experience of an improvement, and I think we all three agree that currently we can't do that.

Big delays, mostly with black screens when I select "My Shows", sometimes 30 seconds or more.

What are the problems with the iPlayer ? I use it regularly on TiVo but have not seen any issues myself.
(I'm not saying there are no issues, just I don't see them)

It is prone to buffering despite TiVo's dedicated 10mb broadband connection. I must admit I agree with passingbat here - having a TiVo means catch up services are a back up rather than a go to, so I haven't experienced this much because I don't use it much, but I have experienced it nonetheless, and the sheer number of complaints, the dedicated forum page and the bespoke Virgin customer survey are enough to prove that this is a real issue, and that a sizeable minority or maybe more are suffering it.

I'm not aware that was the case. A big fuss was made of it on these forums (as is always the case with an upgrade), but I don't recall it being 'advertised' by VM. In fact, being that it was an 'under the hood' upgrade (which would not interest most people) and not a feature upgrade, there would be no point in trumpeting it.
