TV Anywhere

I've used the TV Anywhere app on my phone and tablet a handful of times with no problem, setting recordings, looking at what's already in My Shows and Planned Recordings, but tonight on both devices I'm getting a message that I couldn't schedule a recording because my TiVo is not connected to the internet and I need to fix my connection. There is then an option to Connect, which fails, then a link to a web page saying I need my TiVo connected to my home network by either LAN or WLAN. I feel as if I'm going mad! When I originally installed the app, there was no need for this and everything worked. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Re: TV Anywhere

You need to have an ethernet cable going from the router into the back of the TiVo box.

Re: TV Anywhere

You do not need the TIVo connected to your home network.

What the OP is seeing is a bug.

Restarting the TiVo from the menu system usually corrects the issue and allows TV Anywhere access but it can recur.

I repeat - the vast majority of TV Anywhere function, including what the OP wants to do, does not require the connection.

Re: TV Anywhere

for the remote control functions on the app on my phone, do you need the tivo box connected to the superhub via ethernet cable?

Yes for the remote control functions of the TV Anywhere app your TiVo and device (ios and many android devices) have to be connected to the same network.http://help.virginmedia.com/system/s...MER_TYPE=Cable

However

Nevertheless I too have found this quite buggy and my TiVo required a reboot prior to posting this to check I wasn't telling fibs.

Many thanks. Switch off and switch on again, should've thought of that!

Re: TV Anywhere

Glad to see this. Had the same issue. It could connect to the bedroom tivo but not the living room. Tested the network connection on the box and it was all fine, but still no joy, so rebooted box, and while waiting for reboot I found this thread. The reboot worked.

Some day I will hook it into my home network, but for now I just like to be able to check and set recordings while away, or programme something to record on the opposite box to what I'm watching.

Re: TV Anywhere

I am having this issue now. It is incredibly annoying as I am away from home and can't restart the tIvo.
Unless I can do it from the TV anywhere app somehow?
