Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 3
We were told by the woman in the Phillipines, that our Tivo box was NOT HD and needed to be changed.
Its about time VM got there act together, as l am certain that they didn't have a clue of what l was talking about.

You can do, you can even have HD sports, I think it costs about £40 for sky sports HD with nothing else but FREEVIEW.

Must admit the service is pretty good. Some surprises I didn't expect to see as part of the subscription like every episode of the Borgias and HBO's Deadwood.
Starting to seriously consider Freeview along with Netflix and Amazon Instant rather than an expensive TV subscription.

I did this back in February, partly due to the Feb price increase, and partly due to my viewing sources having already become mainly via the internet (having to pay for BT Sport also niggled me).
Using Unblockus gives me access to all Netflix regions, Hulu (for US Network TV shows) and I also have a paid subscription to HBO Nordic. I did take advantage of the Amazon Prime £49 offer, though I've not watched much via Prime so far, but liking the free next day delivery.
Because I have a VM phone, it was cheaper to keep one Tivo with the basic Freeview channels than just have phone and BB, so that takes care of UK Freeview channels. I would have been happy to go without TV from VM and just use catchup via the web if there hadn't been the cost advantage of keeping a Tivo.
This setup works great for me.

id rather virgin media closed the contact centres after 6pm and during the weekend. no point having them open with the foreign call centres. no offence but they dont seem to understand what im saying and dont seem trained in much at all.
Im yet to ever hear anyone say "i had a superb call to vm over the weekend. helpful staff. got a great deal"
it just damages vms reputation keeping them open...

But wht annoyed me so much was the fact that. I kept saying 'are you there' she kept replying, yes, waiting for the system to come up.
You could clearly hear people in the background, talking in a language that l could not understand.
I wasn't rude, but its frustrating that you are trying to explain a problem, and they have no idea what l am saying.

No it's £5.99 a month for the streaming video service.
The £79 a year is for amazon prime unlimited next day delivery for purchases which also includes the video service and a kindle service.

I take it that your Sky 50% discount has ended. Could you not now return to VM as a new customer again with the associated discounts?

It's only £7 a year more for the whole package then.
I took the £49 offer in February as i thought it was too good to turn down and it helps that i have a Kindle so get a free ebook a month.
I'd only rarely bought things off Amazon so didn't think i'd get much use out of the next day delivery but i've bought 2 things in the last month so i think i'm getting my moneys worth, i'm also watching a lot of series i missed first time around. Currently have 1 more season of Battlestar Galactica to watch.

Remember this which happened on a Friday evening a couple of weeks ago? Imagine the uproar if customers couldn't even report it until Monday morning
