Crosstalk ?

My Infinity 2 connection has always reported my Max attainable rates as 128mb downstream and 35mb upstream , I was the first connected on our cabinet and I'm sure takeup hasn't been massive as its been quiet near the cabs.

I had issues with constant reboots and had all new external wiring from the pole and into my master socket and all has been fine since.

Checking my line stats today my Max attainable is now only 109mb downstream and 34mb upstream , I read on another forum that as more lines were added your noise margin dropped my downstream noise margin is sitting around 13.7 this was previously around 18.2.

Could this be caused by Crosstalk , its not a massive issue as the service is capped and won't go this high yet anyway , just wondering.

Re: Crosstalk ?

Yes, thats more than likely caused by crosstalk, although your stats aren't bad at all ,i know of a few people who had max attainables of 130+ which have dropped to below 80

Openreach are aiming to roll out vectoring which will reduce crosstalk by which point they will roll out higher speeds to VDSL customers, although this will require more line card upgrades at the cab

Re: Crosstalk ?

That's exactly what crosstalk does.

It's more fun to watch your attainable rate shoot up insanely when there's a power cut, if your kit is on a UPS (the FTTC cabs are too) and yours is the only modem on the block left online.
