Its seems Rupert has his eyes on creating a European pay-TV giant to compete with other big companies who are parking their tanks increasingly on Sky's lawn but he might not get his way.http://www.theguardian.com/media/gre...rupert-murdoch

I would have thought ITV2, 3 & 4 not forgetting catch-up and boxed sets would be plenty considering a high proportion of ITV1 is also repeats.

Anyone know who decides what programs are available on demand,i.e the channel owners or sky/virgin? I`ve noticed sometimes an episode of a program is on demand one week then other weeks it isn`t.

Pure speculation, but the buying power of 3 big European broadcasters might help.

I'm sure BT Sports will be looking at a similar "Nuclear" solution.

 | I`d love to see a situation were a certain number of Premier league games MUST be shown `free-to-air`. Then maybe a broadcaster could have exclusive rights `eh?

 | Not going to happen, by doing so you weaken the next bid in three years' time as the defeated party could throw in the towel or decide it's not worth bidding. Do this a couple of times and you are just left with one bidder.

Also, there's not much advantage to buying the Premier League across Italy and Germany as like England, each country is only prepared to pay serious money for its own league.

BT Sport's current rights have gained it 5m subscribers including 1.8m via VM wholesale. If it won massive Premiership rights then it would be unable to bundle it free with broadband. Which is the whole point of it in the first place!
