Skys EPG is great agreed i personally find tvguide.com epg much better but that's because i'm using a pc and online tv lol, but out of the big 4 talktatalk, sky, virgin and bt skys EPG certainly is the best.

You would be best off asking Sky. I am no expert but I agree a flick of the switch is all that is probably required, but sky have every right to withhold the channels for as long as they want. Sky may well think that the content they are showing on SS F1, 3 and/or 4 HD is worth keeping exclusive for the next few weeks. Annoying as it is for many people on here, Sky are (rightly or wrongly) just showing good business sense.

Long overdue. With the exception of launching a certain withheld Sky channel this is the best thing that Virgin Media could do to enhance viewers' experience IMO.

The channels are fed by landline from Comux to VM, and then carried on the VM core network. The local headends pick up only the channels they need in their region.
With the odd exception, VM abandoned all local channel insertion when NGTV was implemented.

In that case, it will be the licencing restrictions, & not technical issues that prevent "out of area" local channels being recieved.

I think that to earn the title 'dynamic' the EPG must be able to change to reflect what's actually on TV at any one time rather than what was scheduled to be on when the compilers of the EPG last updated it. This would mean that if, for instance, a football match overran a recording you set immediately after it would be shifted to accommodate this. At least, this is my understanding. Perhaps a more tech-savy contributor can expand on this.

Oh cool, thanks. That sounds like a great idea and yeah, surely something that the whizz bang box of tricks that is TIVO should easily be abe able to do?!

My Sky sources has also confirmed that Sky Livingit +1 will move to an higher channel number on Sky from June 9th so that ITV Encore can launch on Sky Channel 123.
