Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014
Hmm, they're still very much up in the air about this upgrade.
We were showing as June - July 2014. That was 2 days ago. Just logged in and we're now showing Sept - Nov 2014.
Might have to try giving them a call..will they still do it if I'm not taking any extra services out?

It depends on your area, but going to retentions (The "I'm thinking of leaving" option, though I think it's now "Make changes to your package" these days or something) seems to be your best bet. Quite a few people have got the upgrade early just by asking nicely - no new services, changes in bills or contracts required.
I did it myself and have been on 150Meg for about a month now. Our area was due in July, but now it says November 2014 - April 2015. Still on 152Meg.

Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014
Although website says June - Aug for my upgrade I received an email yesterday to say it was ready.
I filled in all the details and then received another one saying that it was ready to go.
So rebooted my router and happy to say I am now getting 160 mb.
All free of charge happy days!

Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014
I was going to upgrade via the big Kahuna offer till I found out about the hidden charges.
Currently on 20MB, VM opo said I wouldn't be upgraded at all as this was an old tarrif and the only way I could get faster speed was paying more.
So the emails VM send me telling my upgrade is coming soon are a mistake.

You have either been given wrong information or misunderstood.
If you are currently on 20Mb, you will be upgraded free of charge to the 50Mb product.

Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014
But you will probably need a new modem (Superhub).

Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014
Didn't misunderstand but thought opo probably wrong. Didn't bother arguing as a bit ****ed off with VM today as had already been on phone re Kahuna offer for 45mins being passed between 3 different opos.
Already have a superhub, think it's an early version as have had it for a couple of years.
Managed to get upgrade to 100MB for extra £4.34pm although being all wifi there doesn't seem much speed difference (100MB speedtest on wifi 20-30MB, 20MB speedtest 15-20MB). So I might cancel and wait for 50MB for free next year.

Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014
Or upgrade your wireless. 50Mb isn't going to be any different...

What would you suggest, currently running wireless-n, 6ft from superhub?

Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014
Funny how VM tells you there's no installation charge when on the phone, yet hey presto, on your next bill there's an installation charge. Hopefully it's a one off but I'll be sure to check my next bill.

Something other than the superhub. It's rubbish.
Though be aware, Wireless-N can hit as little as 75Mbps tops, depending on what your equipment is. What wireless-n device do you have?

You mean 65Mbps.
But yes, a combination of a decent client and a decent router is required...

That's correct, the 10:1 ratios have not been in effect for quite some time now.

I actually meant 72MBps, I've not seen a wireless-n client drop below that but obviously real world speeds are going to be less than half of that anyway.
