Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

We're considering upgrading upgrading to the Big Kahuna bundle and was wondering what the best way to do this would be.

Currently we have 100Mbps (recently upgraded from 60) with the Superhub 1, TV XL with 2 V+ boxes and talk unlimited for phone.

If we wanted to change to the Superhub 2, swap both boxes for TiVo and keep the talk unlimited we currently have, would it be best to go through the normal number or go straight to Retentions? If it is Retentions, which number and menu options do we call?

Thanks for any advice.

Just checked and there is an option to disable DHCP. If you thought SH1 was bad, try the BT Hub 3, causes massive lag issues when plugged into my LAN

Oh and 30 hours after upgrading and quite a few modem reboots to try and get the upgrade I'm still on 60Mb instead of 152Mb. I'll wait for the SH2 to arrive and if still no upgrade phone up support.

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

I currently have

1 Tivo 1TB
1 Tivo 500GB
TV XL
Broadband XL 100MB (free upgrade)
Phone XL
Talk 08 2 free from VM
Total £87.99

If I take Big Kahulalalalala and bolt on the above bits it will work out £14 cheaper if I'm correct.

Big K £45
Line Rental (rip off) £15.99
Talk unlimited £8
Extra Tivo that I already have £5
Total £73.99 plus I will gain up to 150MB broadband.

Saving me a whopping £14. Of course VM have already looked at my bill and contacted me according to adjust my bill And if you take into account the discounts cos I've been with them since Noah built the Ark

I don't understand your comment. You sound like you are annoyed that you can reduce your monthly bill?

No I'm happy. Just annoyed that VM are not more pro-active with long standing customers. If I had not sat down and looked closely at my bill nothing would have changed. . When are the rest of the bundles coming out? Don't want to call them until I see all on offer.

Plus if I pay line rental up front I will save in total £231.88 a year.

I think that's just the way they like it! I think people would be surprised at the number of customers out of contract but not on any special deals.

I remember seeing a customer with a 512k BBI code on their account just a few years ago. They were still paying what I think was the equivalent to the 20Meg service at the time (the mid-tier between 10 and 50, 100 didn't exist at the time) but only getting 512k. People on retention's 2Mbit "S" package were paying less.

The customer didn't realise and didn't even care, they were calling in with an email issue caused when Virgin switched over to Gmail.

You missed out the second box charge of £6.50 per month.

Also Talk 08 2 at £2 per month.

Talk 08 2 was a freebie given to some customers a while back; I got it. I think they used the phrase 'Tickle'.

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

Every company grandfathers customers onto more expensive tiers rather than moving them automatically onto the newest and best value ones. Nothing personal to VM.

My above post can now be ignored. My father, the account holder was impatient and went ahead with the switch. We're all booked in for the upgrade.

One Tivo is included in the bundle so the other 1 TB should only cost an extra £5. Plus yes I was tickled and expect them to keep honoring that.

I've just noticed in the small print that it's £5 per Tivo. But surely if a Tivo is included in a package that is all it should cost. If not that's very sneaky of VM and should be in bold in the large details not hidden in some small print.

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

The total quoted cost of Collections and Bundles that include TiVo cover the £5 fee that is paid for the included TiVo box. However it is still there.

Same as when the VIP bundle launched way back in 2007, it covered the £10 a month V+ HD monthly fee that was charged at the time

The information that is unclear, perhaps only to me, is whether the Big Kahuna includes a second box in the price or just the TiVo. Perhaps You know, Ben?

It just includes one Tivo 500GB and no other box. I have two tivo's at home already so I will just have to pay for the one. Me's happy.

Exactly, so you need to factor in two charges for your second TiVo as I said above.

The second box charge of £6.50 and the TiVo charge for that TiVo of £5.
