Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

It does make a change to know the date something is coming without knowing what, rather than knowing what is coming but being told it's 'coming soon'.

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

Something like this for nutters who want to pay it would be awesome.

Says the guy who pays as much for broadband and phone as most of you guys do for triple play and with slower download speeds than some of you

Still only 15Mbit down

I know it's a massive limitation with the technology, but I sure would love to see better upload speeds. 150Mbit to 250mbit isn't really that big a deal in terms of what you can do, but 15mbit to 30mbit is.

Current package is £80.99 which consists of:

Basic phone line
TVXL
60MB Broadband
2x Tivos

The very first question I asked was to I retain my single fee for Tivo and was told yes and was quoted a price of £67.

When the guy tried to put it through he has there was a credit of £4 showing (the second Tivo fee) and then got quoted £72. Not sure what to do have been thinking of dumping my TV pacage altogether, anyone been able to retain their Tivo discount?
in a word no. not for me anyway.

rang them today
currently i have
BB 100mb (just had free upgrade from 60mb)
TV XL
Tel XL
1tb tivo and 500gb tivo
£81.74

i understand from a previous conversation i had with virgin this included a £5 discount on the 2nd tivo box.

today i enquired about the Big Kahuna bundle.
keep the telephone XL and the 2 tivos. Quoted me £80.49

i work that out as
Big Kahuna £45
phone line £15.99
Tel XL £8.00
2nd tivo £11.50
total £80.49

when i asked about the tivo discount the girl said it was included in the Big Kahuna price? not sure how as the Big kahuna bundle only quotes 1 Tivo.

still would be faster BB for just over £1per month less. Then i was told as i was going onto 152mb BB i would need an engineer and would cost another £49 installation fee.

i dont need 152 Mb BB bad enough to pay another £49 so said no. I also thought if i took the new bundle and at some point in the future decided to downgrade( which i may well do) i would lose this current discount.

i shall see what other bundles come out- there may be one with 100mb BB XL Tv XL phone and 2 tivos which may be cheaper.

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

If you've got a SH1, you don't need a SH2 or an engineer to go to 152Mbit - it should be an over the phone change.

Ben, Is the purpose of these Big Bundles to get people off Retentions deals and on to standard pricing?

All I know is that they are replacing the current Collections. What effect that then has on Retention pricing I have no idea.

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

Can you change from a ongoing contract to one of these new bundles?.

Any existing customer can get them as far as I'm aware.

Will there be one that includes SKY Sports, SKY Movies and SKY HD like the VIP Collection currently does? From what I've seen so far, it looks like there won't be.

Yeah there is but I think it only comes with 1 box as standard

Re: Virgin Media launch 'first true quad-play' bundles

I rang earlier and was almost sorted, until I got transferred to sales. Although we don't pay for the old V+ box when we got TiVo we apparently would have to start paying £6.50pm if we changed to a new bundle. But seeing as it sits next to the TiVo and doesn't really get used I said they could come and take it back in that case.

Got through to sales, and he quoted more than what we're on now, for the same thing. Which seemed odd - he was adamant that the BK was not £45. He only seemed to have BK with Sky Sports, or Sky Movies, or with both. Hence it being more than we currently pay. He thought maybe it was new customers only, until I told him it was currently only available to existing customers.

In the end had to leave it because he couldn't do the £45 thing. (Which I know doesn't include line rental)

What number would be best to ring on?

Also, does anyone know how much it would be for the BK, but with 100MB instead of 152MB?

I know we currently get 120, which is due to go up to 152 soon. But if we drop down, will we have to wait for 60 to increase to 100, or should that be available now?
