Wi-fi printing problem

My uncle has a Win 7 laptop which is contect to a Epson Stylus SX435X scanner printer, now for some reason it has drop the connection and will not reconnect, any ideas ?

It connects via a SH1

Has he tried the usual switching both printer and hub off then switching the hub on and waiting until it fully boots and then turning the printer back on? Have to do this sometimes on my HP printer when it refuses to connect to the SH2 properly. The SSID and password haven't changed at all for the hub have they?

Is the printer too stupid to realise it might not always get the same ip address on the network?

If so you'll need to assign a static ip address through the SH1 and set the printer to always look to that address.

Had a similar problem with an Epson wireless printer and it was because the IP address changed. If your router allows you to reserve an IP for a particular MAC address , then setting this is the best way to stop future problems.

The easiest way to fix this is to login to your router and somewhere to do with Connected Devices it should show you the canon printer and current IP address. Don't have a windows machine at hand to check but from memory you go in to the properties of the printer and add another COM port specifying the IP of the printer. Something liek that anyway.

With Windows and some printers and routers the printer will supply a "name" to the router that Windows can pick up and use to access the printer. I have had this work at home but Linux clients don't seem to see this.

What I have done is fix the IP for the printer outside the DHCP range so I can use IP address as suggested above.

Linux clients can see it fine if nmbd is installed.
