Rumour which i'm putting down as wishful thinking by a source but you never know.BEINSports looking to launch in UK. If launched it would be available on all platforms via a subscription.

Make of that what you will as i said i think it's just wishful thinking personally.

 | I would imagine that will depend on the Premier League rights bidding war that is due to take place later on in the year. BT and Sky are not going to let these go without a fight

We're one of the only countries that still bothers with the ban. I'm sure some of the extra revenue could filter into the Football League, since they'd have the only obvious objection.

I've seen bits and bobs around the net about Discovery going to bid and Aljazera (however it's spelt lol).

 | Hmm, a pretty unattractive and crowded marketplace at the moment with operators like Premier Sports, EuroSport and ITV being caught in the crossfire between Sky Sports and BT Sport.
The rumour I heard sometime back was that Setanta was up for sale and was talking to beINSport. However, Setanta has operations in Eurasia, Australia and Asia and sold its African arm to Fox (who held a pre-existing 24% stake) so the discussions could easily have referred to any one of these entities and not Setanta Ireland.
I'm sure I also read that BT Sport and beINSport were talking about some kind of collaboration, I think that was around the time that Andy Gray commented on the FA Cup for BT.

Sky have no say whatsoever on the likes of Blinkbox and Amazon should they join Virgin Media. Allthough the HBO content via Blinkbox and Amazon would ofcourse be on a PPV basis but there is nothing stopping Amazon or Blinkbox turning around and saying "we're going to bring out a monthly pass system for our PPV content." such as say pay £10p/m and you can access the ppv content without any extra charge. Unlikely to happen but it could and Sky won't have a say in the matter.
 | Been told that VM are in talks with Cirkus for British and Nordic VOD content. ITV recently bought a stake in them too. The TV companies certainly see VOD as a key growth area.

 | Al Jazeera Sports are now beIN Sport after re-branding last year.

It's going to be a fascinating tender process with Disney/Europsort, BT and Sky and beIN Sport all reported to be interested.

I read on another forum that beIN Sport did consider a bid last time but for reasons unknown didn't.

I think the Premier League will make more games available currently each game is worth £6-8m on average and conservative estimates say this is will at the very least hit £8 to 12m a game next time.

Aside from holidays and midweek, there are 23 rounds with 4 televised games and 10 rounds with 5. I would be not be surprised for that to change to 25 - 30 rounds with 5 next time.

As to 3pm Saturday games, 32 of those would be worth £260 to £380m a year. I expect it will be down to the FA as it is they who insist on the blackout to protect lower leagues. If the PL agree to subsidize lower league clubs with part of the extra windfall then it might happen.

As to the impact on VM who knows, could be better could be worse, depends on if you want to watch every game. Personally a couple of games at the weekend is my limit and if I have more choice then maybe it will be okay. I'd pay an extra £12 (more if decent picks) a month to beIN or Eurosport for a second weekly game (in HD) but not the extra £25 pm for Sky Sports 1 HD.

This is what happened last time if you are interested:-

Has anybody in London had London Live added to their EPG yet?
If so, could you please take out your card from the box and let us know if you can still view the channel (this will show if the channel is Free To Air or not).
