chromecast advice (local files) playing to tv - does this use internet data?
does it use internet data to transmit the file to the big screen?
i am thinking of buying a chromecast and if i have local files store on pc / mac
can i stream across to the big screen without using data? or will it need internet data? i know the both devices need to connect to the same internet network
Re: chromecast advice (local files) playing to tv - does this use internet data?
While it does require wireless and to be on the same network as your pc, content, and your phone/pc/laptop etc it doesn't use internet for local content.
BUT
If you are using apps such as netflix and iplayer through the chromecast, it will obviously use the internet.
It also does automatically update, so there will be usage from time to time due to this.
