Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014
I'm also going to point out that the topic is about channels that are coming soon to VM TV.

As far as i'm aware on demand providers and content is the main focus this year. If any channels launch it'll be channels such as Natgeo wildHD, DisneyHD, CIHD, UniversalHD, LifetimeHD, chart showtv etc, Localtv.
Hopefully i'll have something concrete soon regarding channels but apart from what i posted earlier it's pretty quiet on ye old sea front.

Now if true our family would certainly be interested.

I am assuming that the way the cable system works is that all channels are piped, but channels intended for localised areas only appear on the EPG for their intended areas??
I want this channel, but am outside their broadcast area. I think I will have to use my satellite system to do so, but it would be useful if I could get it off the VM network via a cable TV enabled television.

It will be encrypted on satellite so unavailable on Freesat, just Sky. The website does not state it will be broadcast online but I would expect this to happen and be the best way for viewers out of the area to watch it though some bought-in content may not be available online.

That seems quite likely, the two others that come to mind are BlinkBox and Wuaki.

Wuaki has been mentioned a few times as has Blinkbox too. Also one called VUDU has been mentioned too. VUDU is a American ppv on demand service so they could be interested in coming to the UK. I'm not sure about this but i think they already work with LG in the USA too.
Interesting times ahead i feel.

Vudu is owned by Walmart so if it came over I would expect it to be launched on many devices and with a substantial push behind it.
I'm not sure the likes of Vudu would give us more content than we already have but could help keep prices down though. I would like to see more of the niche on-demand services like Curzon (currently has an exclusive deal with BT but also available on non-PVR devices), Classic Cinema and Warner Archive Instant (currently US only I think).

I'm not sure the links of Vudu would give us more breadth of content than we already have but could help keep prices down though. Didn't know about the Warner one am going to give that a try as they offer a 2 week trial. If any good i'll report back.

My wife certainly likes country music, and so do a lot of people in this country. When Country Music TV was taken off some years ago, I was quite surprised, but I suppose if not enough people are watching it, then it just isn't viable.
Could be a separate section in Music On Demand if we can't get this channel back.

Well, there is no new information, Dave, so no point in furthering that discussion for the time being. Notice we still haven't heard any more about Sky Bravo, which Sky said they would delay while discussions proceeded with VM, and now the complication of HBO On Demand, which could be used as a bargaining tool by Virgin.
Let's just wait and see. Anybody who actually knows what's going on behind the scenes is not going to let the cat out of the bag. However, the time lag is disappointing, but these things can take a long time when you have two sides neither of whom want to back down.
