Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014
I notice my TiVo is not displaying any programme information for BBC3 beyond next week. Could this be because of the switch to iPlayer-only programming on this channel? If so, how are we going to know what there is to watch on BBC3? The iPlayer itself doesn't seem up to the job of being a programme guide.

No it won't be, BBC3 isn't due to close as a broadcast channel yet.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014
London Live starts in a little over two weeks. I would expect tests to begin sometime after the weekend.
Can someone in the London area with the correct facilities check for any off (or on) EPG tests please. Also, is it broadcast in the clear?
I am assuming that the way the cable system works is that all channels are piped, but channels intended for localised areas only appear on the EPG for their intended areas??
I want this channel, but am outside their broadcast area. I think I will have to use my satellite system to do so, but it would be useful if I could get it off the VM network via a cable TV enabled television.

There has also been much speculation in the media world that this is a ploy by the BBC to obtain more funding.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014
Did anybody see Danny Cohen on Free Speech? He did himself, the BBC and the plans to close BBC3, no favours at all by skirting the questions in such a way that would make a politician proud.
I also do not get his arguments that the BBC will grow BBC3 online, urm with what budget? Or him constantly saying BBC3 shows will be seen by more people when they are rerun on BBC1 and BBC2, find that hard to believe when they are surely to be dumped in a post 11pm slot.
Its ironic that he was once BBC3 controller i have not seen anybody sell out the people that made him this quick since Nick Clegg getting into bed with Cameron.
I don't buy the other arguements that cuts have to be made, complete and utter crap as most of the BBC3 money is going eslewere in the BBC rather than to make cuts

I saw that too. Still, at least the Muslims allowed it to be discussed, other subjects were censored and the BBC could not discuss them

Local TV has primarily been allocated Ch 159 on VM. It will depend what headends the channels are fed too as to whether you get them, just as with the BBC/ITV regions. Due to the way the network operates, in some areas there may be more than one local channel available.

Thanks. I discounted the issue of different headends as I thought that they were all now amalgamated on the VM system (that was the reason given as to why local radio was taken off VM, with everybody getting BBC Radio London). Are there still multiple headends

The individual mosque they were filming in asked them not to. Lets not tar an entire group of people with the same brush.

Yes, as nodrogd says, each headend is configured to select the channels available in that region.
A while ago there was a suggestion that VM would look to make all Local TV channels available via an app on TiVo, but I've heard nothing about this recently.
