No, it doesn't mean that. There is often very little notice given of new channel launches.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014
I'm wondering with Lovefilm now re-badged as Amazon Instant if we might see a new app on TiVo? Seems you can download movies on the US TiVo, as well as streaming of course, but I'm sure this would suit a lot of people. VM might not like the idea of direct competition, but perhaps that's one less thing for them to worry about / manage.
Anyone have any info or ideas if it is coming?

not really direct competition - sky movies OD most of the money goes to SKY, Netflix is not owned by VM, the only one is picturebox but if they were that worried they wouldnt have taken on Netflix; I think it be more down to that contract with Netflix as to whether they could take on Lovefilm

I have to confess to being stumped on the business model of adding OTT apps onto a pay tv platform but that could just be me , it seems a tad risky to me wouldnt it be better for VM to increase its own VOD library possibly having XL and VIP TV packs with heaps of extra On Demand content as a way to encourage people to upgrade.

I would severely doubt that as its not available on the US TIVO as far as I know.

It isn't this is why i'm taking the rumour with a very small pinch of salt for now plus as bananaman said Sky have WWE rights although when the Network launches in the UK later this year i'm not sure how it's going to work. I think the Network in uk will have blackouts for ppv events etc.

Beats me as well, my feeling is (and just an opinion) look to tie in with what seems to be the choice netflix, make it inclusive as price within VM and effectively outsource OD TV and film, might seem a lot say £3 per person cost base to VM but all overheads and costs associated with acquiring OD and films now done by Netflix and VM will not have anything further other than maintain App compatibility.

It has been posted on here that Lovefilm is indeed coming, which fits in with what Liberty say is their strategy of providing content in this way.
However, as expected, no official confirmation yet.

If it does, they need to sort something out at Amazon. I've just watched an episode of Blue Bloods and it stopped to buffer about 5 times, sometimes taking several minutes to restart. I've never had that problem on Netflix. PQ was good when it was playing though, but only stereo sound, compared to Netflix's 5.1. I was watching via my Sony S370 BR player.
I know Netflix use adaptive bitrate streaming and will drop the PQ rather than stop to buffer, but I don't even notice that.
Netflix is a far better streaming experience so far for me.

I used Lovefilm via a PS3 with no issues , I'm now streaming via a PS4 and have had no issues with HD PQ or buffering and the app provides 5.1 audio.

PQ, as I said was good. I hope they add 5.1 to other devices.
I got the month Prime Trial and will see if I think it's worth it towards the end of the month.

Indeed. Also the TiVo UI for Virgin's own on-demand content is so poor, particularly at browsing for interesting new stuff, that I find myself using it less and less compared to the services I don't need to give Virgin money for.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014
To be honest, I wouldn't be subscribing to Netflix if it wasn't on TiVo and I would probably have cut the cable by now if I want subscribing to Netflix. I know that sounds a bit odd, but despite having a range of devices I can use Netflix with, TiVo is just there, already hooked up to my tv and the integrated search results don't make me feel like I'm constantly swapping about to browse available content. More importantly for me I only need one remote!
I can understand why at first glance it seems a strange fit but actually I think the platform now offers a great compromise between linear tv channels with a recording function and streaming/od services.
Which is irritating because they've now removed the functionality of the TiVo so far from the US version that I'm no longer that interested in keeping it.
