Smart Meters

So, I was reading another thread and then looked into the use of Smart Meters in the home.

I have one attached to my house as do every other house in our bunch of semi-detached properties.

Apparently they are very bad for our health.

What do others think?

See here in the video for more details: (I've linked to the part in the video about Smart Meters)

So what about Wi-FI, cordless phones, Microwaves, mobile phones all give of a signal (which some say are harmful to your health)

Touching a mobile phone or laptop is way worse.

Re: Smart Meters

The thing is these technologies (smart meters) have not been properly tested for the radiation they give off.
If we just ignore all these devices then we may as well ignore radiation warnings altogether.

Think of cigarettes.....promoted as amazing and everyone was smoking......Makes money..... And now we know the health issues smoking is more or less banned everyowhere.

Re: Smart Meters

They are literally just mobile phones attached to a meter. The radiation they give off is identical to any ordinary mobile phone.

They're tested in the same way mobile phones and laptops and wireless access points are.

What's with all the paranoid conspiracy theorists lately?

Re: Smart Meters

The long term effects are the same as a mobile phone.

They are tested for radiation output under the same ICINRP guidelines as are used for mobile phones. Heating effect is irrelevant.

You don't get paranoid every time Apple brings out a new iPhone complaining they haven't "tested it properly".

Would you buy an iPhone 3G instead of an iPhone 5s just because the "long term effects" of owning an iPhone 5s aren't yet known?

Get real.
