Amazon Prime & Lovefilm being combined.

Just came across this article on BBC News:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26290206

So I checked my MyAmazom page and sure enough £30 price hike on my renewal status!! No notification from Amazon whatsoever, I have no need of Lovefilm as I use Netflix so it's adios Amazon Prime.

Sad to say goodbye to Prime but really miffed about Amazon's underhand approach.

Re: Amazon Prime & Lovefilm being combined.

Looks like it is easy to cancel the Lovefilm service now, so have cancelled it through the website and am sending my discs back tomorrow morning.

You can still get it at £49 for the next few days.

Re: Amazon Prime & Lovefilm being combined.

75 quid for a years prime and love film is not a bad offer

I only use prime once a year when its free trial though and I find Amazon quick delivery without it

I only use Prime once a year, when they offer me a free trial.
It's great when it falls near Christmas

Re: Amazon Prime & Lovefilm being combined.

If you want both, then £79 is quite good... But if you only want streaming *or* Prime delivery, then it's pretty poor...

My wife signed up for Prime quite recently, and added me as a family member. Makes it better value as we both get Prime deliveries on our own Amazon accounts. Once the streaming gets added we'll see what it's like, but I doubt it will really compare to Netflix + Unblock-US. I doubt she'll renew next year at £79.

Re: Amazon Prime & Lovefilm being combined.

I have Prime, and TBH, haven't really ordered enough from Amazon in the past year to justify the cost at £49.99. I've used Lovefilm a few times and, frankly, never been impressed enough with the content to justify paying for it, but my Membership of Prime is about to be renewed at the end of April for £49.99, so I'll use LoveFilm for a year, see if I like it, then work out if the combined package is worth £79.99 to me. ATM, I don't think it will be.

Re: Amazon Prime & Lovefilm being combined.

We make great use of Prime and I can see why they are doing it as it's so easy to make lots of little orders that are more expensive that on bigger order. So they think let's bundle so stuff in and people will need to have one of our "gadgets" to use the extras.

I still think we'll keep it just for Prime.

Re: Amazon Prime & Lovefilm being combined.

I've been using the 'Amazon Family' 3 month trial. runs out in a month.
been using Prime delivery quite a lot while it's been active. but won't be paying for it.

If anyone is on the 'Prime' and you want something that is only available on the 'Add on Program' thing. you have to order a minimum of £10.

the way round it is to put the add on thing in your basket. and add another item to make the total over £10.
checkout and pay. and then cancel the extra item straight away.

the 'add on' item will still be delivered. and you only paid the £3 odd that it was.

only works on Prime AFAIK.

From what I've just read, it is a good offer if you're already a Lovefilm subscriber. or you want it.

as it's £4.99 per month which is £59.88 a year.
so £19 for Prime.

but for some reason. I've always thought that Prime was £49 a month. and not a year!

Does anyone know how many devices you can use at the same time to stream on Lovefilm?

Like NowTV you can have 4 registered devices, but only 2 streaming at the same time.

I'm still on the Prime trial. and would think I'd be able to stream as from today. but obviously not. they want me to pay.

I signed up last night to lock in the £49 charge for the year, will check what I need to do after work to stream to the Xbox One.

Re: Amazon Prime & Lovefilm being combined.

But did you pay the £49?
you said earlier you took the month trial.

with me it tells me that I can stream because I'm on the Prime trial. but then it takes you to another trial page. but you have to pay the £79.

Re: Amazon Prime & Lovefilm being combined.

I don't think anything is paid yet but it clearly said if I signed up to the trial I would be locked into the £49 price for a year.

Re: Amazon Prime & Lovefilm being combined.

Ok. the thing I don't understand is how can it be a trial if you're locked in?
unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying.

I'm not going to bother anyway. I've still got till the 20th March on Prime. and the streaming doesn't interest me as I have NowTV which I've shared with 3 others and I've split the bill 3 ways so they pay mine
