I had a similar problem quite a while back with my 100Mb - bear in mind that it has never really given me too much trouble, even through peak times I tend to hit full speed:

When the initial problems did occur, I called Virgin Media and an engineer was sent out. Upon 45 minutes of going back and forth between the green cabinet and my house, he concluded that the power levels were fluctuating badly so he attached this to the modem:

Re: Superhub 2 problems

My router has one of them boxes on, it was on my old SH so I assumed it needed to go on my new one, I might take it off and see if that makes a difference.

It says on it

Forward Path Attenuator
6dB

Re: Superhub 2 problems

As your power level shows 6 dBmv now, if you take it off, then your power level will jump to 12 dBmv. Your SH2 may be OK with that, but it's above the threshold that VM would like to see (10 dBmv).

So I advise you leave the FPA on.

It's a FPE so only if they have the wrong slope/tilt on their signal. It's not the same as a FPA!

I rang VM earlier and asked them to activate my old SH, they done so and said to call back in a few days to see what happens with the old SH re-activated and they'll look into sending a replacement SH2. Heres my power levels on the old SH and everything is back to normal

Power Level (dBmV) 7.9 dBmV 8.8 dBmV 8.5 dBmV 8.0 dBmV 8.8 dBmV 8.4 dBmV N/A N/A

From your previous levels and the presence of the FPE I think a tech needs to to look at the whole setup.
As per my earlier post and others, you really need a tech visit to check your power levels. They'll probably just need to replace your 6dB FPA with a 10dB FPA to lower your levels and hopefully you'll be ok. A new SH2 won't help you until you get your power levels sorted.
