Changing Mates Rates Package
Hi
We are on mates rates and have been for 3 or 4 years.
I want to change to one of the newer versions of mates rates mainly to get a TiVo box and also upgrade the broadband and get a new superhub.
Will VM do this easily enough? Is this just done through customer services?
It will result in us paying another couple of quid a month and I know it will mean entering a new contract, but that's ok.

Re: Changing Mates Rates Package
It should be possible, but there have been so many different MRs over the years it's hard to say what the price change would be. Give CS a call and ask.
ps. Welcome to the forum!

You need to move to the new mates rates, you can drop the xl telco and get tivo in its place foe the same price. You normally need to pay £49 install fee but I found a way round it if you still have the old xl20 modem

Re: Changing Mates Rates Package
Thanks. I am on one of the early packages I think and want to change over to the latest one. But, I want to get a TiVo and SH2 for free!
My monthly spend will be going up slightly, so I am hoping they will go with it.

Re: Changing Mates Rates Package
Just an update on this for anyone interested.
Called VM today and after a bit of faffing they agreed to give us a SH2 and a TiVo with the V+ box moved to the bedroom for 6p cheaper than we currently pay. New 12 month contract of course. Pretty easy to be fair.

Re: Changing Mates Rates Package
Nope. They initially wanted the £50, I said no and threatened to cancel. Was put through to someone else who said no install fee. They will charge it on the bill, but put it back as a credit.
Two week wait for install though!
Wish I had called a couple of months back now, when I first thought about it.

Re: Changing Mates Rates Package
I've never heard of mates rates getting free install. I'll need to give this a try

Are VM still doing the spotify and Netflix free trials and as a re-contracting customer, can we get them?

Netflix offer available to people on Mates Rates discounts but not to those on Retentions discounts.
I feel a heated debate starting.
